Barack Obama began the month of April with a 5-1 cash advantage over a debt-saddled Hillary Rodham Clinton, setting the stage for his lopsided spending in the crucial primary state of Pennsylvania.
Financial reports filed Sunday by the Democratic presidential candidates with the Federal Election Commission show Clinton had $10.3 million in debts at the start of the month and only about $9 million cash on hand for the primaries. Obama reported having $42 million for the primary.
Clinton's red ink poses yet another obstacle to her campaign as she seeks to end the primary season with a string of victories. She trails Obama in delegates, states won and popular votes. And she can't dent Obama's superior fundraising.
[...]
Clinton, who had kept pace with Obama financially throughout last year, had even less cash on hand than Republican John McCain. McCain raised $15.2 million in March and had $11.6 million in the bank at the start of April. It was his best fundraising performance of the campaign, coming after he had essentially secured his party's presidential nomination.
Finally, I want to say a word about the basic decency I have seen in Mr. Obama. Mrs. Clinton continues to throw the Rev. Wright up in his face as part of her mission to keep stoking the fears of White America. Every time she does this I shout at the TV, "Say it, Obama! Say that when she and her husband were having marital difficulties regarding Monica Lewinsky, who did she and Bill bring to the White House for 'spiritual counseling?' THE REVEREND JEREMIAH WRIGHT!"

Clinton Camps accuses Obama of being a copycat
Hillary Clinton was clearly having a blast during her drop-in television appearance with Stephen Colbert here Thursday, but her campaign's mood soured when aides learned Barack Obama would be appearing on the same show via satellite.
"I can't believe it - he's such a copycat," fumed a person close to Clinton, telling Newsday that the candidate herself said she was surprised by Obama's Colbert Nation invasion.

I think it's just called Two Buck Chuck - that's all I've ever heard it called. Or are there different varieties? I've never purchased it myself.
I'll call up the TJs close to the hotel and find out what they've got of either in stock.
Thanks

TJ's makes four varieties of Mr. Chuck's wine...two white, two red.
There's a Chardonnay and a Pinot Grigio, and then a Cabernet Sauvignon, and I'm pretty sure it's a Merlot.
Tried them all....all good. (not 90 points, mind you, but superbly drinkable for that price.)

Yes, but his Hillary slam about Wright was pretty tacky. He intimated that Billary personally requested Rev. Wright to come and counsel them during the whole blue dress thing. If I'd only read what MM wrote instead of checking the link he provided in the email I would have thought that Wright was a personal confidante to both of them. Instead he was one of several men of the cloth invited to a prayer breakfast. Other than that, MM had no substantiation for what he wrote.
I like MM a lot and generally defend him but this one annoyed me.

Misrepresenting Libertarianism there, Thom.
It's not reactive; for my branch of the party at least, the rule would be "do no harm". there shouldn't be a law unless someone is going to be injured. Regarding the case just presented, there would be regulations placed on the example toxic chemical, and someone would be held responsible.
I will yield that to other parts of the party, their thought would be "Let's not regulate anything, when people die, the market will react and put those companies out of business".

I'll make sure with him tomorrow night (don't want to keep calling him at work) and let you know either late tomorrow or first thing on Wednesday. Is that enough time?
Quote by shelaghc:
It never rains, but it pours.
I've been sitting in my apartment for two weeks now waiting for the phone to ring, calling my agencies and sending out my resume.
Today, I get one offer to start tomorrow on a temp assignment for $15 an hour. I know pretty much where it is, but it's for doctors and they want me to do the office professional look all the time. (Not sure how much leeway there is to business casual....) It would also put the proverbial kibosh on leaving in the morning on Friday (since I could no longer count on my temp agency to agree that there wasn't work available for me when they fill out my UC form), but I could still at least head out by around noon. Drat.....
And I got an email from another agency for a possible something, not sure where the office is located, for $18 an hour. Not sure what the dress is at all.
Plus I'm on hold for two other potential jobs, but no idea what's up with those.

Shelagh work update:
Working this week, but nothing beyond mid-May as a definite. The agency for the $18/hr job just sounded weird. The woman there asked me if she had my most recent resume. I said if it had my last job (said the name to her), that was it. She said she balked at sending over a text resume to the client. I told her I'd be happy to send a word document and told her I hadn't updated with some temp work I'd performed. She seemed confused (and I'm sure she was sure *I* was confused) and told me that the client needed to know I could do formatting so sending over an unformatted text resume wasn't the best thing. I reassured her I had a word version, but that I didn't use heavy formatting because of problems some email programs had with formatting.
She again said she needed to show the client that any candidate they sent over could create documents that had formatting. Then she paused and said "on second thought, I don't think you'd be a good candidate for this job. Thank you very much."
And she hung up.
Anyway, I'm back to $15 an hour - this time paying for public trans instead of free parking. But it'll be better for the environment, right?
