Good morning, bloggers!!

I hope that everyone had a great weekend. I have to help Mom out today with a few things. In some good news, I have a phone interview with a local school tomorrow morning.

Considering the revelations about Ben Carson and violence, I have to ask where the GOP is finding their candidates. Last I checked, Arkham Asylum is a fictional place.

Morning

Did you know Arkham Asylum is based on Danvers State Hospital. It was destroyed in 2007. (I watch way too many scary/dark history/trivia programs )

Mornin' all!

Well now, this work day has gotten interesting. I walked in & had a voice mail from someone at Master Chef (the tv show).

Are you going to be slinging knives on TV?

I didn't realize it either, until I was watching some show on haunted asylums or something like that.

Mala, I was just wondering if you knew what was going on with Dish and your CBS affiliate since I heard it was pulled a week ago?

Danver State...dark, gothic, and scary-looking. It sat on a hill overlooking Route 1 not far from my ancestral homeland. Kids on the North Shore had an instictive fear of the place back in the day.

It was off for like part of a day, then the local Good Wife fandom took them to task for blocking CBS nation programming and it was back ASAP. Don't watch much CBS much really so unless it effects Amazing Race we don't pay attention to it.

They built apartments there on part of the land, right? Don't think I'd want to live there, I'd have the constant heebee jeebees.

Allow me to go full-nerd for a moment. The name Arkham comes from HP Lovecraft's writing Arkham is the home to many supernatural goings on. Many of those driven map by their exposure the Necronomicon ended in the Arkham Asylum, which Lovecraft based on Danvers. Calling the crazy hospital in Gotham City Arkham is a nod to the creator of modern American horror.

End full nerd for the day. Remember you don't want to go full-nerd.

I'm always reminded of the Eddie Murray bit about the Amityville house. I'm with him - first voice I hear and its see ya later. I even asked if there had been any weird goings on when I was house hunting. Yes, I'm that person.

Anyone hearing anything in depth about the Earthquake in Afghanistan and Pakistan?
A powerful earthquake struck Badakshan Province in Afghanistan today and also affected a large area of Pakistan. According to the US Geological Service the magnitude 7.5 quake struck at 09:09 UTC (UTC), was 196 kilometers (121 miles) deep, and the epicenter was 82 kilometers southeast of Feyzabad, Afganistan in the Hindu Kush mountain range. Considerable shaking was felt in Khyber Paktunkhwa (KP), the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), Pakistan Administered Kashmir, Punjab, and Balochistan as well as in the capital Islamabad.

Initial media reports indicate at least 110 people have been killed in Pakistan with 94 of those fatalities occurring in Khyber Paktunkhwa (KP). An additional 1000 are reportedly injured. The Chief Minister of KP has declared an emergency as a precautionary measure and provincial and district authorities are currently conducting damage assessments. Hospitals are on alert in KP to receive the estimated 600 injured.

United Nations agencies are mobilising emergency stocks as a preparatory measure in case support is required. The United Nations and its humanitarian partners stand ready to support the Government’s ongoing relief effort for the people affected by the earthquake and mobilize any support, if requested

Industry disputes make less and less sense, but it's all about money in the end.
