Happy Monday.

Happy Monday? I scoured all around and there is too much to focus on any one thing. I am mesmerized at the utter stupidity of the Secretary of Education. (I am befuddled at the corruption of her brother Erik.) Also, Can we just have a total reset and start over?

Let's see what this week unleashes.

Mornin' all!

Welp, I've got my badge for Pax East. Only going on Sunday but that should be plenty.

Betsy Devos is as corrupt as her brother without the mercenaries.

When I heard that Bets is going to be chairing the commission on school shootings my thought was, why? She's an idiot who doesn't know fuck all.

That's because it's the Commission to Nowhere. We already know her only concerns are grizzly bears & Republican Jesus in schools.

I have a feeling that Putin picked her the same way he picked Tillerson.

Considering her brother met with a high-level Russian official in bar on a tiny island off the coast of Africa, I'd say that seems very likely.

This is a little old - DC protest march for gun control had its permit denied because another group filed a permit for the National Mall that day.

The other groups application is undated and all identifying information is redacted. What is suspicious to me tho is what's not redacted.
- The permit for the march has a received date stamp and a printed filing date of Feb. 20. The other application has neither (and it wasn't redacted because instead of a redaction mark it's simply blank or not there).
- The permit for the "filming" event is actually set for March 25, with a rain date of March 24. I don't know anyone who would have a rain date for an event BEFORE the normal event date.
- The second permit lists its max number of attendees as 25. I severely doubt the need the entire fucking Mall for that.
- The second permit also lists the Mall between 4th & 14th SW as a cleanup area, and only for an hour in the evening.

As mentioned in the article, a few groups including Public Citizen have filed a FOIA request to have the second permit application released without redactions. It should be interesting to see who did this.

Possible. I get the feeling it's more like a Project Veritas production.

Think about it - with the way the DC Metro area school students have been expressing themselves in reaction to Stoneman Douglas, I find it very hard to believe they would deliberately get in the way of this protest. And if one of the local schools did plan to do this, then I'm sure they would have made a public deal about withdrawing their application or rescheduling the filming event in support of the students who organized the march.

Check out the hashtag too, some of them are so cute and very snarky.

If we ever find out when the first permit was requested we will know.

The thing is, I don't see how they can keep people off the mall. The route is set for Pennsylvania Avenue NW, between 3rd NW and 12th NW--- After that, who knows where it goes.

Hi all. A fine day off in our fair city before the storm.

Eating lunch with the tourists at Quincy Market, because where else would I go?

Av-dork chiming in on the East River crash.

Disregarding the cause, the footage I saw looked like a well-executed emergency landing. that pilot couldn't have auto-rotated it down any better onto a hard surface.

That said...I was just reading further. It was a photo-flight, and the doors of the helo were off. So, the passengers were strapped down with five-point harnesses, and further physically tethered to the aircraft with a carabiner connecting the tether to the seat.

According to an anonymous groundcrew...once you're belted in, you can't reach the carabiner to unclip it. Somebody outside the helicopter has to do it.

The pilot, wearing a standard four-point harness with a quick release was able to get out. Liberty Helicopter may have negligently murdered those other five people on board, if the groundcrew is to be believed.
