Just an Ol' Fashioned GOP sex scandal
Author: Raine    Date: 11/01/2007 12:06:47

yes...a stub... I had a lot of wine last nite... I will be back soon with a better, stronger... smarter blog entry....

Raine apologizes. JLY, LLC. All rights reserved, 2007 ™
==================================================================
OK... Blog update!!!

Also known as, I am not gay, I love my wife....

So, Richard Curtis resigned. Do you know Richard Curtis?

Rep. Richard Curtis, 48, said he was resigning immediately to spare his wife and children more public embarrassment. In a written statement, Curtis said, "Events that have recently come to light have hurt a lot of people. I sincerely apologize for any pain my actions may have caused."

Curtis, a Republican, told a newspaper in his southwest Washington district on Monday that sex was not involved in what he said was an extortion attempt. He also declared he was not gay.

But in police reports, Curtis said he was being extorted by a man he had sex with at a hotel room in Spokane, where Curtis was attending a GOP retreat. The other man, Cody Castagna, 26, contends Curtis reneged on a promise to pay $1,000 for sex.
Yeah, extortion... computer says nooooo

This is just the latest in a long list of GOP sex scandals. Now, don't get me wrong... I have no problems with sex. I have no problem with anyone getting their freak on for that matter... What I have a problem with is the hypocrisy. I do not think it is right to legislate against gay rights, against same sex unions, against hate crimes being disignated for the GLBT community when so many of them turn around and break the laws they legistated for by hiring prostitutes, having adulterous affairs, and things like that (can you say wet suit?) .

What is going on with the GOP? Maybe, just maybe they should erect a tent that is bigger than their closets....

After the sex scandals of 2006, you would think the GOP would have learned to keep these things... well... in the closet. Instead, so far this year, we have Gary Aldridge, Bob Allen, Glenn Murphy Jr, David Vitter, Larry Craig, Richard Curtis, let's see who else did I miss? Was our favorite Crystal Methodist this year or last? I simply can't keep them all straight (pardon the pun) anymore.

It is time for the GOP to stop being the family moral abstinance values party that preaches to America. It is time to either start practicing what they so haughtily try to impose on all of us OR... better yet... get off the box and just be honest with themselves and the rest of America.

Alrighty. Tri Supplied the Bagels, we got the coffee going... and BobR Wishes all of you...
Feliz Dia de Las MEurtos!!!

How is that for a great team effort? See you inside.
:peace: and
Raine

Do I go get a Thimerisol shot today? (disguised as a flu shot)

Never mind the mercury concerns, I've long been suspect of the concept of the flu shot itself...

Ah yes, the Festival of the bones!

Chill, star. It's a Mexican semi-holiday; it's cool.

The Day of the Dead (Día de los Difuntos or Día de los Muertos in Spanish) is a holiday celebrated mainly in Mexico and the Mexican immigrant community living in the United States, with variations of it also observed in other Latin American countries and other parts of the world. The Mexican celebration occurs on November 1 (All Saints' Day) and November 2 (All Souls' Day).

Though the subject matter may be considered morbid from the perspective of some other cultures, celebrants typically approach the Day of the Dead joyfully, and though it occurs roughly at the same time as Halloween, All Saints' Day and All Souls Day, the traditional mood is much brighter with emphasis on celebrating and honoring the lives of the deceased, and celebrating the continuation of life; the belief is not that death is the end, but rather the beginning of a new stage in life. In Mexico and Mexican immigrant communities in the United States and Europe, the Day of the Dead is of particular cultural importance.

The Day of the Dead is celebrated to a lesser extent in other Latin American countries; for example, it is a public holiday in Brazil, where many Brazilians celebrate it by visiting cemeteries and churches. In Spain this holiday has great festivals dedicated to it also, there are big parades, and at the end of the day people all gather around cemeteries and pray to their loved ones that have died. Most of them are Catholic. The holiday is also observed in the Philippines. Observance of the holiday in Mexican-American communities in the United States has become more important and widespread as the community grows both numerically and economically each generation. Similarly-themed celebrations also appear in some Asian and African cultures.

Yes, I've heard of it.

My friend Carolyn has a collection of statues in her home from this holiday.

She has to take them down when potential buyers come to view the house.

Some people are offended.

Christmas is so boring. Hey, if you're going to decorate for the holiday, you go all out.

I remember years ago, there was a channel called Long Island One and around holiday time, they would always show the homes from people who had the most elaborate Christmas set-ups but nothing for those who did it for Halloween.

I don't know. . . It's tough. I mean morally and, according to the "No he didn't" factor, sure he probably should be gone. But, if this was a private phone call that wasn't broadcast, which I have to believe it wasn't, should he really be held accountable?

I know there are people I work with who are homophobic and when they are not on the campus of this company, they aren't really accountable. If they are talking to a friend on the phone and it's "blah, blah, blah...this dyke at my office. . .blah, blah, blah" sure it's offensive, but should they be fired? I don't believe so.

Tonight I have the Islanders hosting Tampa Bay and they have a special ceremony for one of the players 1000th game as an Islander. The music they are using sounds like circus music though.

Islabders beat the Lightning- 4-0

Rangers beat the Caps 2-0

We are also doing the Sabres feed on MSG for the upstate markets. It should be in post-game now.
