Riddle me this.

I have one question this morning.

How is this legal?
A team of Trump administration officials toured a California facility once used by the Federal Aviation Administration this week as they searched for a potential site to relocate homeless people, according to three government officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the private tour.

President Trump has directed aides to launch a major crackdown on homelessness in California, spurring an effort across multiple government agencies to determine how to deal with sprawling tent camps on the streets of Los Angeles and other cities, officials said.

I have more than one question, actually. Aside from the horrible optics of 'rounding up' homeless people why does he think he has jurisdiction over this? I assume he's picked California to own the libs, but where would this end if he gets his way?

Yes, homelessness is a huge problem. Yes, the housing market is out of reach for far too many Americans but is putting them in a detention center really -- never mind --I know the answer. This is the kind of cruelty he wants to force upon the most vulnerable in our society.

This insanity has to end.

Morning

Seems like that tramples all over states rights that I thought they so highly prized, well unless its California.

For the life of me, I can't see how this is constitutional.

Mornin' all!

I'm finding that doing things to advance my own situation is a welcome distraction from all this crap going on in the world. Right now I'm starting the prelim process of buying a house/condo, finally getting my drivers license restored, rebuilding relations & trust with a certain someone, and getting back into game streaming on a semi-regular basis.

Am I better off now than four years ago? Sure. But at least I know it's because I'm taking the steps I need to, and not because of these murderous, disgusting fascist punks.

All of that sounds amazing, Scoop!

re: the blog... this is reminiscent of both the Japanese internment camps and the beginning of Nazi-era rounding up of "undesirables". Both of those were stains on human history.

If this actually happens, it will be yet another, and one that was allowed to happen by an electorate too scared to potentially lose their own jobs and then their homes, and a political party more in love with power than their own country.

On Firefox, the individual blogs are coming up as not fully secure. That the blogs are trying to load insecure scripts. Maybe that is why the blog is still slow.

I've noticed that posting, quoting or refreshing comments goes very quick. Anything else takes about five minutes (including when you click the edit comment button)

I was.. well.. in depression for a while without realizing it. That trip to the hospital woke me up part of the way, getting back in contact with my ex & talking to her about it did the rest.

It's really quite terrifying, to be honest.

I am really sad about the passing of Malcolm Nance's wife.

BTW, here's a political issue that's related to gaming - the federal ban on online gambing, except where it's been legalized by state laws (aka New Jersey).

I'm not sure if anyone here has ever used Pokerstars or a similar poker app. Their setup isn't solely sit down at a table, drop some cash for chips & play. They have a constant stream of tournament-style play - pay an up-front entry fee, get a set stack of chips, and you get paid based on how far you get.

You all know that I've played in tournaments for Magic: The Gathering. Well guess what? ITS EXACTLY THE SAME SETUP. You pay an entry fee, instead of chips you have your deck of cards OR you draft a deck from unopened packs, and get paid based on how far you get.

I personally don't see tournaments as gambling, and never have. The only difference is the game being played. So why is one illegal and one untouched? Extensive lobbying by the brick-and-mortar gaming industry - Steve Wynn, Sheldon Adelson, and GUESS WHO

excellent piece by our friend Maddie (who is also a great homebrewer) on reducing gun violence.

Interesting. I sold my hand when I wasn't able to afford my meds. There is one thing that is keeping me from replacing it is that almost all small .380 caliber automatic pistols are butt ugly. That and the moral distaste that gun ownership causes now.
