A Small Ray of Sunshine

Senate and House congressman working into the wee hours of the night finally agreed on a nearly $2T package of economic relief to help the country during this time of crisis. The previous sticking points were Republicans trying to all the money to business (with no restrictions on how it was to be used) instead of the people, and Democrats trying to pad the bill with a wish-list of infrastructure projects (falsely labeled "environmental regulations"). The contents of the bill was agreed upon "in principal", although it has yet to be written down as an official legal document.

The bill covers a lot of ground.
- One-time check to people or families on the lower end of the economic scale
- Paycheck support for small businesses
- Expansion of unemployment benefits
- Emergency funding for healthcare providers
- Loans to large businesses, and the ability to delay payroll tax payments.
- Aid to states

Meanwhile, the disease continues to run rampant here in the U.S. and around the world. The reality that children have died, and even Prince Charles has tested positive will hopefully reinforce the reality that no one is safe due to demographic status.

Morning

How the freak I got tasked with setting up teleconference when I avoid phones like the plague is a complete stressful mystery to me.

Good morning, bloggers!!!

I hope that all of you are doing well, all things considered.

I have a phone interview with a Chicago Public Schools recruiter in about an hour.

It went fairly well. Missed a few sessions because of the cold I had. I still have to clear out more of the nose.

Hi all.

So, we had another crisis call this morning, and reading between the lines, I'm sensing that we might not be back to work until June 1.

I forget where I saw it this morning (Princeton, maybe?) but there's a study out there that suggests that even that might not be enough, and we may reach "peak" sometime in mid-August.

I'm going to be dusting off my old healthcare resume. If there's EDI jobs out there and anyone is hiring, I'm going back on the market.

I love driving trolleys, dammit!

Afternoon

Just did takeout from a local Italian restaurant. My GOD, I'll be eating what I got for 3 days!

Anyway, found out from the senior center that the restaurant had "Care Packages" that fed 4 for anyone who wanted one, no questions asked. And they take donations, so I 'paid it forward' I can only imagine how much food is there if a single serving is the size I got.

I'm stuffed and I only ate half of it.

I had a good discussion with the CPS recruiter. I hope to be in a better school this year.

From talking to several people whom I trust, I suspect schools will be closed until next year.

If we peak in mid-August, it may delay the start of school. My hope is to be in a better school somewhere.

TriSec, it might be wise to dust off the resume. If the trolleys are not going to be out, maybe someone will need you in healthcare.

It is near 60 here on the southern shores of Lake Michigan. So, I have yard work to do.

I have violently emptied out three drawers in my kitchen. Two full of kitchen gadgets of various usefulness, and the designated "junk" drawer. I bet about 80% of what's sitting in a box right now can be thrown out.
