The color of white.

It's Thursday and I spent a good part of my evening painting in the Studio. I am so happy and grateful to finally have space where I can nurture my creativity, and more importantly, get away from the shitshow that is supposed to running our country.

I woke up feeling like my soul is a little fresher, brighter and cleaner. Then I opened up WaPo. Here are just three of the national headlines:

Howard Schultz says he grew up in a poor, rough place. Others called it the ‘country club of projects.’

Universities race to quell outrage over bribery and cheating scandal in admissions

Tucker Carlson says he’s the victim of a powerful bully. Meet the 24-year-old who found the tapes.

What do all of these articles have in common? White privilege. It's clear as day. I am reminded of that as I think about the Manafort Sentencing when his lawyers basically said to the Judge that he wouldn't have been in this position if he didn't take a job as Campaign manager.

I'll remind you, he volunteered for that job, for free.

We have an awful lot of problems in this country and it seems to me that many of them have a root based in a systematic and institutionalized white elite, monied privlege. It's damn depressing. There is no whiteness without all the colors, by the way. ALL of them.

So, it's Thursday and we are on the back side of another week. What are you up to?

and

Raine
