America is racist A.F.

Good Morning.

Go ahead. Tell me I'm wrong.

Let's start with a local story - that may have gotten national traction.

Today is the funeral for Enrique Delgado-Garcia, aged 25, in Worcester MA. He 'died' under mysterious circumstances during a training exercise at the Massachusetts State Police Academy. The Fox News link here is deliberate, and part of the point I'm making.

Delgado-Garcia became “unresponsive during a defensive tactics training exercise” at the MSP Academy in New Braintree Thursday. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he passed away Friday.

Delgado-Garcia previously served as a victim witness advocate with the Worcester County District Attorney’s office.

“Enrique was a fine young man who devoted himself to the service of others as a member of the 90th Recruit Training Troop and in his former role as a victim witness advocate in the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office. The Massachusetts State Police grieves the tragic loss of Trainee Enrique Delgado-Garcia, and we offer our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. They have the full measure of our support and care, and they remain full members of our State Police Family,” said State Police Colonel John E. Mawn Jr. “In his short time with the State Police, Enrique demonstrated an extraordinary capacity to learn and a desire to deliver excellent police services to the people of Massachusetts. He made an immediate impression on his classmates and the Academy Staff. By all accounts, Enrique possessed and displayed all the qualities that would have made him an outstanding Trooper: kindness and compassion, dedication, commitment, willingness to work hard to improve himself, and a strong desire help others.”

A spokesperson with the Worcester County District Attorney’s office says they are reviewing the matter.

Law Enforcement Expert Todd McGhee said he was a Mass State Police Defense Tactics Coordinator from 1998-2001.

“The defensive tactics program itself is approximately 40-50 hours of training, that’s where recruits receive their training for handcuffing, baton training, oc spray training, empty hand tactics, use of force continuum,” said McGhee.

McGhee said Delgado-Garcia was hurt during the boxing program. He said the program was adopted while he was the defense coordinator, with controls in place to prevent injuries like this. He said an internal investigation will reveal what really happened.

Fox sounds like they are playing this pretty straight, right? But once you peel away the outer layers of the onion, you find the entire core is rotten. Why did I put quotes around "died" above? Because my gut feeling is he was actually murdered in the ring. Naturally, his family is demanding answers, and according to them, the circumstances of Enrique's death are quite different.

Enrique Delgado-Garcia, a 25-year-old recruit at the Massachusetts State Police Academy in New Braintree, died after a medical crisis during a training exercise. Now, his family has questions about how a training could have left him with serious injuries including severe brain trauma.

Massachusetts State Police said in a statement that he suffered a medical crisis during a defensive tactics training and became unresponsive.

He was later rushed to the hospital, where he died.

Delgado-Garcia's family said their loved one suffered a broken neck, missing teeth and severe brain damage and are now demanding accountability as well as an explanations to what went on inside the walls of the academy.

We are beyond the point where we can look at the police and shake our heads and call them "a few bad apples". Over the years, and increasingly so in the current political climate, more and more racists and white supremacists are going into the military and then choosing a law enforcement career. Do you think for one minute that this was an "accident", or maybe one of those was given the chance to "go a few rounds with a spic" in the ring, while the trainers and supervisors were looking elsewhere, and this was the result?

But let's move on. We are standing on the edge of a precipice in just a few weeks, and incredibly we could still go either way. In thinking about this column, I was reading extensively about a darker-skinned female who is running for public office. She is facing off against a lily-white male with German and Scottish ancestry.

One of the candidates is supremely qualified for the job, and has a track record of public service, decent humanity, and even seems to be in what most of us would consider a normal family relationship, which sometimes matters.

The other candidate is a miserable shitfuck of a human being. Can't run a business to save his life, takes great pride and joy in being mean to people, and has even lusted after his own daughter.

Yet - 50% of this country is making the wrong choice. Primarily because the supremely qualified candidate happens to have reproductive organs that go in instead of sticking out, and has a skin tone slightly darker than a piece of copier paper.

What the hell is wrong with this country?

Oh, but I'm not quite done. Let's talk about Haiti. But let's talk about Sicily first. My Great-Grandmother Angelina came to the United States in 1909, at the age of 14. The year before, her village was destroyed by an earthquake. She came through Ellis Island, and spent the rest of her life doing what immigrants do - working her ass off to make a better life. I wonder if she ever thought her Great-great grandson would attend a prestigious university and graduate Cum Laude?

I work with a lot of Haitian guys these days. As it turns out, it's fairly easy for them to get a commercial license in this Commonwealth, and many of them are out there hustling as hard as I am driving. They all want the same things - a better life for the family, a decent house, food on the table. What makes them any different than you or I?

Oh, right. that pesky melanin again.

The big picture is - no matter what we have done as a society since the Civil Rights era, we still have miles to go. What is making it worse is that we are poised to take gigantic steps backwards, depending on the outcome of the next election.

Take a look around as you are out and about today. Back to that 50% supporting Mr. Trump for the presidency - if you see two people today, one of them is a racist fuck and needs to be defeated.
