Well that was Interesting.
Author: Raine    Date: 09/08/2011 13:08:01

I'm still trying to wrap my head around that debacle last night.

Herman Cain mumblings of 9-9-9, Ron Paul telling us a silver dime is worth 3 dollars, People cheering Rick Perry for killing people, Newt lamenting that Obama doesn't come to the Reagan library and talk to Herman Cain on how to create jobs, Perry talking Gallileo and ponzi schemes...

It was interesting that all three Governors running claimed proudly that THEY were the ones who created the most jobs... yet they also claim government doesn't create jobs -- but rather the private sector.

This was, in all my years of following politics, the most insane, incredulous, and intellectually misleading debate I have ever seen. There were NO substantial solutions presented. Well ok-- there was a few here and there, like this one, from Michelle Bachmann:
As the nominee of the Republican Party, it will be my business to make sure that I elect also 13 more Republican senators who will help me repeal Obamacare.

And one from Herman Cain on how to fix HilaRomneyBamacare:
Here’s what I would do. Let’s patient-centered, market-driven reforms. You lose a pay loss. Some people call it tort reform. Lose a pay loss.

Ron Paul knows how to solve security issues at the Airport:
These TSA agents are abusive. Sometimes they’re accused of all kinds of sexual activities on the way they maul people at the airport. So the airlines could do that.

And this was before they brought in the hispanic (surprise!) moderator to ask about immigration! Shame on NBC for such blatant race pandering....

The only one last night that sounded reasonably sane and actually heartfelt, was John Huntsman, and quite honestly, I just don't see him standing a chance to win the nomination. Last night might make for good political theatre -- but it really is a sad statement on the state of the GOP and America today. One of these people on that stage last night will be running against President Obama.

It's gonna be a long 14 months.

and
Raine

Rick Perry on balancing the budget:

When you get a balanced budget amendment in Washington, D.C., you will finally start getting the snake's head cut off.

and Michelle bachmann on the budget:
That's the problem with Washington, D.C. I've seen it all the time. That's why I've been leading on this issue for the last five years and why we can't trust the status quo in Washington, D.C.

Rick Perry on Osama Bin Laden:
But one thing that I want to say that he did do that I agree with is that he maintained the - the chase and - and we took out a very bad man in the form of bin Laden, and I - and I tip my hat to him.

I give more props to those Navy SEALs that did the job, but - and the other thing this president's done, he has proven for once and for all that government spending will not create one job. Keynesian policy and Keynesian theory is now done. We'll never have to have that experiment on America again.

Mornin' all from soggy bottom.. No I'm not drooling... that's from the downpour!

I didn't even bother watching the debate last night. I just wasn't in the mood to hear a bunch of psychotic silver spoon morons who I wouldn't vote for anyways talk about absolutely nothing of importance to anyone else, except maybe the billionaire constituencies they cater to exclusively.

That Ron Paul quote is more golden than his hard-on for the gold standard btw..

Perry on Climate change:
Well, I do agree that there is - the science is - is not settled on this. The idea that we would put Americans' economy at - at - at jeopardy based on scientific theory that's not settled yet, to me, is just - is nonsense. I mean, it - I mean - and I tell somebody, I said, just because you have a group of scientists that have stood up and said here is the fact, Galileo got outvoted for a spell.

Comment by Raine on 09/08/2011 13:35:04
I'll let this statement from Perry speak for itself:
Let me tell you what I find compelling, is what we've done in the state of Texas, using our ability to regulate our clean air. We cleaned up our air in the state of Texas, more than any other state in the nation during the decade. Nitrous oxide levels, down by 57 percent. Ozone levels down by 27 percent.

Good morning, bloggers!!

I hope that everyone is doing well. I am glad to be back online after my computer's motherboard died and I ended up getting a lap top to replace it.

I did not listen to the debate, as I was listening to Left in Dixie last night. The show had good interviews and discussions on LGBT issues. Now, I did listen to Cary Harrison, David Bender, Chris Bliss, Jeff Fariasand, Bily Foster (Bily, as some may remember used to be the tech guy for the late lamented Nova M Radio network) discuss the debate over at Go Harrison. The hosts were intelligent, unlike many of the GOP candidates whose personal vision for America reminds me of this quote from Macbeth: "A tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury and signifying nothing."

In some sad news close to home, my first cousin George -- Uncle George as he is five years younger than my dad would be -- learned he has pancreatic cancer. I have to call him to find out if he has a clearer picture of his prognosis.

I will be back for a little bit, but I have some subbing later. Be well and be strong. I really missed all of you

I was watching Nova last night. The episode was called "Engineering Ground Zero," which was obviously about the goings on with the 9/11 memorial and 1 WTC. As I was watching it, it hit me that everybody involved in the project from the architects of the memorial and the building down through the project managers on site, to the Mohawk high steel workers, to the construction laborers are taking more care than they ever have on any construction project they have ever been involved with previously. 1WTC might be the most over-engineer high rise office building ever constructed.

I have an early shift today since I am doing the make-up game in the O's-Yankees series today on MASN 2 which has to play come hell or high water which could be interesting if it rains again in Baltimore. I didn't sleep very well last night because I tried to get to bed earlier than usual and I've gotten too used to going to bed so late. Well, at least I got to listen to John filling in with Auntie Elayne on the way in.

So are you all gonna watch the speech tonite?

Since I just got home after looking at my neighbor's TV (beats me what was wrong with it, I unplugged it, plugged it back in and now it works), I guess not.

Though it sounds like we're gonna hear lots of "ANGRY BLACK MAN" from Fucks Noise tomorrow.

A-fucking-mazing. We haven't seen this Obama for a very long time, if ever. He was practically channeling a toned-down version of the same fire & anger that Hoffa Jr. had the other day.

So I had to run errands and miss about half of da speech. My big take away based on what I heard is "I've got a plan, pass the bill, GOP bitches."

Always the Dems, never the Republicans - except when he mentioned the troops.

That is my situation as well, and my assessment. The problem is that it is in the political interests of the GOP to try to get Obama out of office. This approach may backfire horribly for them.
