Last night Mitt Romney gave an interview to Univision TV in Miami before a rally at Miami University. The Miami Herald has a small photo gallery along with the article. Here is a sampling:

Let us look a little closer:

I decided to check other photo sources, and got this, via Huffpo (many are AFP/Getty images):

Here is a picture of him arriving with his son.
This is him at the rally itself.

Makes this comment all the more interesting:
That's one piece about me that you may not know. The other is just about my heritage—my dad, you probably know, was the governor of Michigan and was the head of a car company, but he was born in Mexico. And had he been born of Mexican parents I'd have a better shot at winning this, but he was [audience laughs] unfortunately born of Americans living in Mexico. They'd lived there for a number of years, and, uh, I mean I say that jokingly, but it'd be helpful if they'd been Latino…

Here is Mitt From his hastily arranged press conference after news of his leaked fundraiser tape came out:
http://a.abcnews.com/images/Politics/ap_romney_120918_mn.jpg
And here he is at his RNC Convention:
http://www.csmonitor.com/var/ezflow_site/storage/images/media/content/2012/0831-mitt-romney-convention-closes-buzz-in-germany/13626380-1-eng-US/0831-mitt-romney-convention-closes-buzz-in-germany_full_600.jpg

I think that Mitt needs -- in a very desperate way -- a new makeup artist for his appearances with a television audience, in Miami -- and I am going to leave it at that.

When I can get video, I will post. Here is a snippet from CBS:

I ask you, is it me, or does he look terribly orange/brown?

Oh mittens, even my daughter does a better job with makeup. Have you been getting advice from the Mr. Boner?

*******

On a more serious note. My sincere condolences to the Mondo Family. I hope and pray they are all holding up well.

That is unfortunate makeup. Look closely at photo #3 and note the skin tone differences between his hands and his face. Something is not right.

(History note: Nixon lost the first TV debates primarily because he didn't get made up. Kennedy did, and the rest is history.)

He was in Miami?

It *is* Univision, but he was likely pandering to a Cuban audience. They have quite different views on immigration, since most of them got here under blanket amnesty because Castro is a commie.

Yes, Miami... trying to get the Latino vote.

I know I went there -- but I have to be honest, I think these are valid questions.

So, Mitt goes back to 1998 for a quote from Obama?

Wonder what we'd find if the media combed through Mitt's gubernatorial speeches from 2002-2006?

"I know you are, but what am I??" I can almost hear him saying this now.

MSNBC beats Fox!

Is a shift happening in the normally frozen-in-place world of cable news ratings?

It's hard to tell, but something unexpected has happened over the last two days: MSNBC has beaten Fox News in the all-important A25-54 category two nights in a row.

TVNewser was the first to spot the trend. While it may not seem like too big a deal for MSNBC to jump ahead of Fox News, it's rather surprising that it is happening at all. The total dominance of Roger Ailes' network is one of the biggest articles of faith in the television business. As Alex Weprin wrote, "The number one show in the demo on cable news is always, always "The O'Reilly Factor" unless there is some sort of unusual news event or huge booking."

But, on both Monday and Tuesday -- with neither a huge news event nor a huge booking -- MSNBC beat Fox News. Rachel Maddow's ratings in the demo on Tuesday were better than Bill O'Reilly's and Sean Hannity's. Lawrence O'Donnell's were better than Greta van Susteren's. Overall, MSNBC beat Fox News 575,000 to 526,000.

Just looked at Nate Silver's blog. His November forecast shows Barack with a 75.2% chance of winning. Meanwhile his nowcast shows the President has a 94.4% chance. Just for perspective's sake, on August 22 his nowcast percentage was 62.6%. Here's hoping he has some long coattails November 6.

Say, have you all seen the national scandal brewing over our State Police drug lab?

Governor Patrick is finally getting involved.

Hopefully, this won't tarnish him any - it doesn't seem to be right now.

BOSTON (AP) — Gov. Deval Patrick has announced formation of a special unit to sort through tens of thousands of criminal cases that may have been compromised by the mishandling of drug evidence in a now-closed state laboratory.

The governor on Thursday named attorney David Meier to head the so-called “boiler room” operation.

Meier is a former prosecutor in Middlesex and Suffolk counties.

Patrick said in a statement that the unit will be a “clearinghouse” for information on cases impacted by the mishandling of evidence at the Boston lab, which was formerly operated by the Department of Public Health.

Patrick ordered the lab closed in August, less than two months after it was transferred to the control of the Massachusetts State Police.

Authorities have blamed the problems on a single chemist, Annie Dookhan, but have not said exactly what she is accused of doing or cited a possible motive.

Sorry guys, I'm still astounded at the asshattery of Mitt Romney. Did you know that he's the son of a poor immigrant? And Ann's dad was just a poor coal miner?
So, in any event, yeah, I can put down my dad was born in Mexico and leave it at that. But his dad was in construction, very successful in Mexico, but in America went broke more than once. So my dad never had the money or time to get a college degree. Without a college degree, became head of a big car company and ultimately a governor. And believed in America, believed in the opportunity in this country, never doubted for a moment that he could achieve his dreams. And Ann's dad, my wife's dad, was born in Wales. His dad was a coal miner. This coal miner got injured in a coal mining accident; realizing that there was no future there for him or his four children, he came to Detroit and worked in the auto factories until he could save enough money to bring his kids over, which he did. And then they got together as a family and said, you know, to be successful in America, you've got to get an education. And they couldn't afford an education. And the kids and the parents said you know, if we all work, and we all save, we could afford to send one of us to college. And they, they sent my wife's dad.

Interesting, indeed.

If Bobby V is fired (which can't come a moment too soon, IMHO) the leading favorite is his bench coach to replace him. (Whose name eludes me at the moment.)

IRT Varitek - Who in their right mind would want to manage this turd of a ball club? Especially after being removed from a lot of these players for only a year.

We need to re-animate Dick Williams. I remember his breaking the bank on Hollywood Squares just after being named manager.

This seems encouraging...

Mainstream Republicans have confided in Sen. Chuck Schumer that they intend to regain control of the GOP from the tea party wing if Mitt Romney loses the election, the New York Democrat told reporters Thursday.

“There has always been a group of Republicans that want to compromise. But they have been outshouted, outflanked by tea party. They’re about equal,” Schumer said. “If we keep the Senate and the president wins, and even better if we take the House, though the mainstream — there are no moderates — the mainstream Republicans are going to be strengthened. They’ve told me that. And the leaders — both [House Speaker John] Boehner and [Senate Minority Leader Mitch] McConnell sort of have a foot in each camp. But they’re pulled and dragged by the tea party. They’re going to be strengthened to come and compromise with us.”

At a press conference with other Senate Democratic leaders, Schumer said the ostensible Republican strategy of winning the 2012 elections by thwarting President Obama “doesn’t look so hot now” and “is backfiring on them.” He predicted Romney’s “flailing campaign” will help “break the fever” of GOP obstruction.

Wonder what Scottso thinks about his "leader" Willard's character.

Is the debate on National TV or just local?

A foreign policy question.. hadn't heard Warren's views on this subject before. Can't say I'm happy about this blind, unquestionable support for Israel.

Have heard Brown's tho.. this ridiculous droning on & on about bombing Iran.

I thought it was on CSPAN. You can hear it on the WBZ website.

I turned on the Spans and I was surprised they were showing House and Senate sessions since I thought they had already skipped town.

Scott believes there's climate change going on. But we need that Keystone pipeline.

Comment by Scoopster on 09/20/2012 23:55:11
DAMN RIGHT - Tell these people EXACTLY what is at stake, Liz. A vote for Scottie is a vote for ALL THE BATSHIT INSANE REPUBLICANS IN THE SENATE.

Comment by trojanrabbit on 09/20/2012 23:57:31
I'd rather that Warren make me want to vote for her, rather than saying that we can't let James Inhofe oversee the EPA.

Comment by trojanrabbit on 09/20/2012 23:59:50
You didn't build this!!!

I did find out that Jeff Santos is on WWRL as well, but here in New York he is relegated to the 4-6 AM slot that considering the crappy signal at night no one is probably listening to him.

Rachel is talking about the Massachusetts Senate Debate. And she's got Barney Frank on to rip into him.
