Due to poor planning and happenstance, I won't be able to post a real blog until later. For now, here's an open thread.

Free at last, they took your life
They could not take your pride

I was a wee 7-year old version of myself when the Reverend was killed. It fell on my mom to explain to me what was happening. My dad, who was working at NIH at the time, had gone into DC for a local reunion of either Whitman College or Syracuse University alumni. Mom of course, was freaked out that her husband was in the city when the shit went down. I barely remember this happening.

Colbert said that he hadn’t planned to bring the power of his show to bear on the race, “But then I watched this morning’s ‘Coffee Joe and the Funky Bunch’” and saw Scarborough’s wholehearted endorsement of his friend Sanford, in which Scarborough said, “It’s going to be ‘Morning Joe’ versus ‘Colbert Report.’”

Colbert v Morning Joke, this is gonna be good....

You know it kinda sounds like Sanford is a bit desperate if he's calling in Coffee Joe to help.

Good morning, bloggers!! I hope that everyone is doing well. Mondo, is there any good news on your friend's ex-husband?

Here is something I meant to post on the blog a few days ago. It turns out that Governor Romney's claims that 47 percent of us are moochers is wrong. The original article has a lot of internal links:

No Americans 'Getting A Free-Ride,' New Tax Study Finds

The Huffington Post | By Jillian Berman Posted: 04/02/2013 12:42 pm EDT | Updated: 04/03/2013 11:00 am EDT

A new study further debunks the widely-held conservative notion that lower-income Americans pay little-to-no taxes while the rich shell out more than their fair share.

"We've found that no one group is getting a free-ride,” write the authors of the report from the left-leaning Center for Tax Justice.

CTJ looked at the effect of federal tax increases on the wealthy passed as part of the fiscal cliff dea at the beginning of the year. The increase was roundly decried by Republican leaders and some on the right who viewed the move, pushed by President Barack Obama, as a step toward socialism.

However, while the recent changes put federal income tax rates on a more progressive scale -- tax rates go up as income goes up -- many other taxes Americans are subjected to, like federal payroll taxes and state and local taxes are actually regressive, meaning they take a bigger share of income from the poor and middle class than from the rich, according to CTJ.

Goodness, for people like Irons: just be honest and say gay makes you feel icky. I can live with that. That just takes them out of the discussion, as it should be.

Or, just say 'I don't understand' then a discussion CAN HAPPEN.

While I would still categorize it as "All sound and fury signifying nothing" at the moment, suppose things get a little mushroomy over Okinawa or Guam....wonder what we would do then?

I'm thinking PyongYang would be headed quickly to it's "Lake of Fire" phase, but I don't think that would be very helpful in the long run.

I'm not saying they have built nukes, what I am saying is they have problems with building ones that work properly. They have detonated a couple of em that were duds, they have significantly smaller yields than what the North Korean state media was saying. Like by a factor of about 100. Not that a 1KT nuke is anything the sneeze at or anything.
