Chuck Koch
Author: Raine    Date: 10/12/2015 13:17:50

Did you know that Charles Koch, half of the Koch brothers considers himself a liberal?
Koch says it was during President George W. Bush’s administration that the brothers decided to get more politically active.

“I’m sure he meant well,” Koch said of Bush. “(But) then he grew government more than just about any president before him, and he got us into counterproductive wars. So that’s when I decided we needed to get into politics.”

Koch also says he does not consider himself a Republican.

“Not at all,” he said. “I consider myself a classical liberal. The way I look at it is the Democrats are taking us at about 100 miles an hour over the financial cliff and towards this two-tiered society. And the Republicans are taking us there at 70 miles an hour.”
His brother David ran as the Vice President for the Libertarian party in 1980, so I think maybe he just forgot that little detail. They have been a part of politics for a long long time and now — only now — they seem to want to have an image makeover. The softer nicer sweeter Koch brothers.

Oh and the CATO institute has been around since 1977 -- that was co founded by Charles.

Watch the interview in all of it's Orwellian glory here.

People wonder why no one wants to be Speaker of the House. These two brothers are a big reason why. This is a glimpse into the heart of the evil beast.

Adding to my value as an employee. Learned how to add charts and graphs into a Google spreadsheet.

Pretty refreshing, actually. You can always tell when a candidate pulls out a prepared "zinger" in a debate - it's pretty wince-inducing. It says to me he is just going to say what he thinks.

That said - it doesn't hurt to have facts at your fingertips when trying to bolster your position. To me, that is one of the goals of debate prep - testing one's own knowledge.

•ahem•. I never use prepared remarks in any of my public appearances. I rather prefer to speak on the fly; as John Q. Public in this race, I'm trying to come across as 'everyman' instead of the smooth, career politicians and teachers currently on the committee.

To both Tri and Bob —

The thing about Debates is preparation for the thing that may come your way.

It's different from prepared remarks or a press conference or even a campaign speech.

I know that my idea of debates are far different from the long gone days of the League of Women Voters. I don't know how little to no debate prep is going to work.

Debates, for me at least, are a time to see some serious micro discussion about the (and with) candidates.

I get the feeling that this is going to really interesting. I have long believed that Clinton is not a very good debater (or campaigner to be honest) and Sanders not preparing makes me a concerned.

I find him to be rather grumpy and dismissive.

You see, I want a debate. a real debate, They have teams for this at colleges, Debating is a real thing.

Now I sound like an old grumpy lady.

Sounds like this debate could be as surreal as the GOP's.

alright, alright - I'll get off your lawn...

That was why I said that one of the reasons for preparing is having the facts at your fingertips and being able to use them effectively. He apparently thinks he has all the facts he needs.

Thumbs have been twiddled. Turnips have been twaddled. It's finally time to run the afternoon reports so I can go home.
