It's been a week and a half since the TrumPutin press conference in Helsinki. Only a week and a half and since then we have the normal deluge of horrific and breaking news from the mis-administration.

Just last night, we learned that the White House will stop announcing calls with foreign leaders.
Official descriptions of the President's calls with foreign leaders -- termed "readouts" in Washington parlance -- offer administrations the chance to characterize in their own terms the diplomacy conducted at the highest levels between countries. While news is rarely contained in the rote, often dry descriptions, they do offer the only official account that a phone call took place. Readouts are still released internally.

Trump has had at least two calls with other leaders in the last two weeks, including Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The White House confirmed that the calls took place after they were reported by foreign media, but declined to elaborate on what was said.

The White House has not published a readout of a call between Trump and a world leader since mid-June when he called to congratulate the Hungarian prime minister on his re-election victory.
You will recall early on in this administration the press leaked, as it were, phone calls between the President of Mexico and the Prime minister of Australia. I bring this up because if it wasn't already clear, this announcement is not a surprise to me. I also bring this up because it will only lead to more leaks about the calls that are made to foreign leaders. They do not want transparency because they do not want to be held accountable to the people they are supposed to be serving.

Let's go back to the Helsinki meeting. We can all agree to the interaction with the press was jaw-dropping but even more jaw-dropping? The White House changed the transcript of what we actually saw and heard.
It was perhaps the most explosive exchange in an incendiary press conference: Russian President Vladimir Putin appearing to frankly admit to a motive for, and maybe even to the act of, meddling in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, despite repeatedly denying Russian interference in American politics during the rest of his appearance with Donald Trump in Finland on Monday.

But the exchange doesn’t appear in full in the White House’s live-stream or transcript of the press conference, and it’s missing entirely from the Kremlin’s transcript of the event. The White House did not immediately provide an explanation for the discrepancy.

Understanding what Putin said depends on what you watch or where you look. If you watch the video of the news conference provided by the Russian government, or by news outlets such as PBS and the Associated Press, you will hear the Reuters reporter Jeff Mason ask a bombshell of a question: “President Putin, did you want President Trump to win the election and did you direct any of your officials to help him do that?”

Putin then responds with a bombshell of an answer, according to the English translation of his remarks that was broadcast during the press conference: “Yes, I did. Yes, I did. Because he talked about bringing the U.S.-Russia relationship back to normal.”

It is important to remember that Putin is a calculating, intelligent and quick thinker. With that said, I want to point out something most of the press is doing, They are assuming that Puting repeated the answer to only the first question, much the way Americans might.

He didn't. He answered both questions.

He admitted to the world last week that directed his officials to get his puppet elected. Believe it.

Happy Wednesday!

Raine

This is interesting.
Davis, a damage-control maestro going back to the Clinton administration, told me: "Michael Cohen has made a turn. This is on the record — Michael and I talked about it."

"Michael is going to tell the truth to the powers that be, and let the chips fall where they may."

"I've used this line too many times, but who talks about cash like that besides drug dealers and mobsters?"

Davis said that the tape's release sends the message: "I am no longer the previous Michael Cohen that you knew — taking a bullet for Donald Trump, saying anything to defend him, being a good soldier. ... That is over."

Davis said he was unable to say what Cohen's next move is: "I’m not saying there are more tapes as telling as [this] one, ... but there are more tapes. ... There is more to come."

Maybe its time they think of removing that star altogether. Its more nuisance and really doesn't deserve to be there. Or move it to some place more appropriate like the sewage plant or a tar pit.

Mornin' all! That wasn't the first time it got smashed up, and it probably wont be the last time.

So NPR's reporting has taken a major serious journalism turn lately. Some of the interviews with midwestern residents, farmers, business owners & political figures has been fantastic.

Here's an interview with Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE), who claims this aid package represents revenue of American Farmers that has already been lost since these idiotic protectionist policies were started. He also points out that it's already too late to change things back, because the trade markets that have been lost would only come back at 80% maximum.

And this story brings up another point. Where is that other 20% gonna come from? And in the meantime, what happens to that 20% of crops, meat, milk, etc.? And what happens to their debt payments?

Good morning, bloggers!!!

I believe that we are in for a rough road ahead with Trump. We will likely see him become more desperate and erratic as Mueller's indictments approach. Part of me fears that Norm Ornstein is correct, that Trump will call his followers out to commit violence (or have his media supporters do so), they cause violence, and Trump declares martial law. (I am not sure that the army would comply.)

Let me post a few images appropriate for this blog.

I agree with Malcolm Nance about bulk purchases for books. The GOP will give anything away to promote their agenda.

As for reasoning with Trumpsters, Raw Story has a piece on a conservative Naval professor trying to reason with Trump supporters.

You know all of this bothers me, but what bothers me MOST is that we still haven't bailed out Puerto Rico.

Maybe the only question is whether Trump/GOP policies/incompetence will cause the economy to crash before the midterms.

The funny part is it seems like Bolton is expecting Mueller to be done by the end of the year.

Only one I've heard was MSNBC this morning and it was cut right after the word that sounded like check. Also that first bit I heard "hun".

Probably they realize that such a summit in the current situation might hurt the GOP in the mid-terms.

That presser in Helsinki should provide enough material for ads in this coming election.
