Among many other honorifics, June also bears the name of "Pride Month". Here in Boston, it's our annual Pride Day parade throughout the city. This year's is the biggest ever, and it's alleged to be the sixth largest parade of any kind in the entire country this year.

Although not directly affecting this city, of course what passes for leadership has to go and ruin it for everyone.

WASHINGTON — The Trump administration is rejecting requests from U.S. embassies to fly the rainbow pride flag on embassy flagpoles during June, LGBTQ Pride Month, three American diplomats told NBC News.

The U.S. embassies in Israel, Germany, Brazil and Latvia are among those that have requested permission from Trump's State Department to fly the pride flag on their flagpoles and have been denied, diplomats said.

Although the pride flag can and is being flown elsewhere on embassy grounds, including inside embassies and on exterior walls, the decision not to allow it on the official flagpole stands in contrast to President Donald Trump's claim to be a leader in supporting LGBTQ rights overseas. Trump's administration has announced a campaign to decriminalize homosexuality overseas and this month issued a tweet and formal statement to "celebrate LGBT Pride Month and recognize the outstanding contributions LGBT people have made."

The denials to U.S. embassies have come from the office of the State Department's undersecretary for management, Brian Bulatao, a longtime associate of Secretary of State Mike Pompeo who also worked for him at the CIA. Under State Department policy, embassies that want to fly the flag on their flagpoles are expected to obtain permission from Washington.

But that's not all. You might be aware that the United States is shopping for new presidential aircraft. Those familiar VC-25s entered Presidential service in 1990. While 29 years isn't horribly old for an airframe, remember those aircraft are high-cycle (takeoff and landing) which is where all the wear and tear comes from. In any case, new Boeing 747s are on order, expected in 2023. Except Trump hates the color. Apparently, he hates the "Jackie Kennedy Blue" on it today. There will be a fight over this.

U.S. President Donald Trump is eager to move ahead with his plans to change the iconic livery on Air Force One jets from the Kennedy-era blue-and-white palette to a more patriotic paint scheme of red, white and blue. House defense lawmakers, however, are not that thrilled. In a move to prevent the president from repainting the plane, a House panel has drafted legislation to have the Congress block Trump’s intentions.

According to a report by Bloomberg on June 7, 2019, the Trump Team is pressing ahead with the president’s “demand” that Boeing repaint the new Air Force One jets, replacing the blue-and-white livery that has been a trademark of the “flying White House” since the early 1960s.

As for now, the White House Military Office has not given a formal request to change the planes’ design. In a statement to Bloomberg, the U.S. Air Force (UAF) said that the House is “evaluating” red, white, and blue livery options.

But the White House defense lawmakers want their say over Trump’s plans, The Washington Times reports, – they have demanded veto power over Trump administration’s efforts to change the iconic livery, which has graced the presidential plane since President John F. Kennedy’s administration.

This week, Members of the House Armed Services seapower and projection forces subcommittee has drafted legislation that would require congressional approval over the president’s intentions, hoping the Congress would block the Trump Team’s intentions regarding the plane’s paint job.

(OK, ok. Here's the real proposal. It isn't horrible, but still...)

But back to Pride Day - you've no doubt heard by now about a homophobic group pressing for a "Straight Pride" parade sometime later this summer here in this city. It appears that it may happen, as the Mayor notes there is no legal leg to stand on to deny them a permit. (First Amendment and all...) But I'm sure you remember what happened the last time a hate group tried to rally on Boston Common?

Besides, as one of my fabulous friends says, "Oh, let them have their parade. We'll all go and throw glitter on them."

I fear what future historians will write about our era. My hope is that the Trump administration resembles the last gasp of these creatures.

tRump is a complete asshole. He gets his jollies pissing people off, and his supporters are the same.

All the spinning in the graves of the founding fathers could light a small city, but of course it's not coal, so tRumpy would hate it (or pretend to, anyway).
