Let's get it going!
Author: Raine    Date: 06/17/2019 12:58:21

Good Morning and Happy Monday! I tried my best to be distracted from the ABC interview with the Dotus, but I saw and read enough exerts to know that he is a man in steep delcine, mentally.

That is saying something all things considered.

So we have another weekend under our belt and a new week of crazy begins. Good lord, somethings got to give already. This weekend was his birthday and fathers day -- so he went golfing with Lyndsey Graham because that's normal.

Let's get the party week started! We'll be doing final prep work all week and I am looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible!

and
Raine

Good morning bloggers!!

My sister-in-law is having surgery to put wires in her back to deal with her nerve pain and to increase her mobility. So, I will pick her Mom up later to be here for the recovery process.

I plan to send out some applications this week. I have my current job lined up for next year but I would like to find something better.

I believe that this graphic shows where we are now or may be in a few years if the Clod Emperor of Doom remains in office.

The High Country News, which Scoopster referenced, has another disturbing article. The rapid thaw of Alaska will accelerate global heating.

The Supreme Court sides with Virginia Democrats in a gerrymandring case.

From The Hill"
The Supreme Court has ruled against the Virginia House of Delegates in a racial gerrymandering case that represents a victory for Democrats in the state.

In the 5-4 ruling, the justices found that the House didn't have the standing to appeal a lower court ruling that found that the new district maps must be used ahead of the 2020 election. Those new maps are already in use.

Democrats claimed that the districts were unlawful because they featured too many black voters, and diminished their power across the state and in other districts.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg wrote the majority opinion, and was joined by Justices Clarence Thomas, Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, and Neil Gorsuch.

Well, that's an odd group to side with Ginsburg...

Today at the Supreme Court... we've got decisions!

Manhattan Community Access Corp. v. Halleck (Kavanaugh, 5-4) - labor rights & censorship. IMO this is a terrible decision since it justifies suspending employees for whistleblowing.

Virginia Uranium v. Warren (Gorsuch & Ginsburg, 6-3) - federal vs. state laws re: uranium mining. This is a complicated one since it has a split majority, but comes down to states rights.

Gamble v. United States (Alito & Thomas, 7-2) - "dual sovereignty" doctrine upheld. Get fucked,

Virginia House of Delegates v. Bethune Hill (Ginsburg, 5-4) - Appeal of the racial gerrymandering case. Dismissed based on lack of standing (the GOP-controlled VA House of Delegates filed it, not the state's AG). This is a victory since it means the new maps will stand, and because the voters flipped the state officers & the AG chose not to appeal the old gerrymandered maps being struck down.

Hi all! Greetings from the Harborside campus here at JWU! It’s freshman orientation, so we’re doing all the things.

I’ll post an AAV stub for the morning, so if somebody cares to develop it further, have at it.

Slowly but steadily I get up. I am going to pack a light load for the weekend. Other than internets, just my clothes and some brew for the tip. I have a new beverage store nearby compared to the one I went to in past years. i should still have some local brew with me.

I too am in packing mode for the trip - trying to figure out how to fit a growler in my suitcase.

Also I should probably ask.. do you guys want/need any special herbs?

The presentations, and particularly the questions from some of the parents here, grow increasingly banal. What are we doing with our children that they live in a bubble for 18 years with almost no exposure to the outside world?

Homesickness? Not knowing what to do outside of class? How to ride the friggin’ campus bus???

Yes, you can expect a full muse when I have the chance to write one.
