Have you seen the ad?
Given that New Hampshire is our next door neighbor, since about the first of the year, we've been seeing a ludicrous ad for something called a "Battle for the White House" chess set.
Democrats stand face to face against Republicans. President Donald J. Trump with Mike Pence by his side.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy are knights, riding symbolic donkeys and elephants.
Justices Brett Kavanaugh, Sonia Sotomayor, Chief Justice John Roberts and Ruth Bader Ginsburg are bishops, standing guard to protect the Supreme Court.
Pawns, elephants for the Republicans and donkeys for the Democrats, are the first line of defense.
Of course it can be all yours for a mere $39.95 (plus shipping & handling). The ad notes, of course, that it's valued at over $800!
Well, a perfunctory look over ol' E-bay shows the grand total of ZERO prior commemorative chess sets. The most expensive thing out there is a dedicated piece of furniture called a 'chess table' for less than $600.
Not sure who the scammer is here, but somehow I envision southern grandmas shelling out the $40 because their grandkids "play chess" and it would be "fun" when they come to visit.
Might be worth checking the dumpsters at Century Village after the election!
