All the Means, Ways and Places

As I sit here, I find myself contemplative. I am trying not to stress, and that's difficult. Reaching out to friends and asking them how they are doing has been a comfort to me.

I can't do much for anyone else, but I can listen and try to hear them and you. I find myself grateful for so many more things than I have in the recent past. I have a gift -- I can make pretty things. I can paint. I have things to occupy my mind and that helps. My heart is heavy for those that don't have that. Bob mentioned to a friend of ours last night that "having space to move around is a mental health saver. I feel bad for those who live in studio apts, and are usually only home to sleep." and he's right.

This morning, Soledad O'Brien tweeted this out.

It gave me pause. I know that I don't have it bad, and it could be worse, so I am choosing to spend my time trying to make the world just little nicer for somebody else whenever I can. Bob is not just a husband -- he's my partner and my best friend and I am so lucky to have that. We have a life together that is full of joy and we love to share it with our friends.

As you may know, I lost a dear friend this week. She's been sick for a while. We knew she would go, but still, it was a shock. She won't be having a memorial or a funeral at this time. Of the many things about Linda -- she was exasperating and we butted heads a lot, is that she never forgot her friends, once you were in her circle that was it. You were family. I am grateful for being a part of that, and I am grateful you are all my friends. I want you to be okay. I want to see you and hug you when all of this is past us. I want to be there for you however I can. I posted this to my BoF and I think it is worth repeating here:

“Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as ever you can.”
John Wesley

Most of all - be kind to yourself and remember, you are not alone.

Peace and love,
Raine

Morning

Is it horrible and selfish that I kind of feel left out since we're still open and working? Want to pitch in and help people but since mom is over 70 I've been trying to limit where we go and who we're around.

I guess it's just how long before we go stir crazy? I should have a lead since I have been bedridden since January.

Good morning, bloggers!!!

I am home today, getting ready to eat and then open up the work lap top. We have online classes and students will get Chrome books from the district today and tomorrow.

I spent some time going over some of the essays that are now due this Friday. Many lack works cited pages and are plagiarized without citations. I will seek guidance on what to do, but I posted what they should do.

We may well have to figure out how to do a virtual graduation.

I am working, and my brother's job at the foundry is considered essential. My sister is now laid off, so we will figure out how to help her and Mom.

I fear that Steph is correct: we have many people not taking this pandemic seriously. People are gathering in parks and on beaches. I fear that we will go the way of Italy rather than South Korea. As TriSec said, we have 50 different responses in 50 different states. Not very "United States."

They're doing a good job at keeping the office devoid of most people. Cancelled all meetings, There is only 1 person allowed upstairs from the warehouse. Everyone stays in their offices and you have to stand in the hall to talk to them. We have "in boxes" out in front of all our doors so no one comes in to our spaces. The managers however are getting to work from home, that's kind of ticking me off that we have to drag our butts in, I would like to work in my ratty sweats too. Sales Reps (or germ wagons as I call them) aren't allowed into the office upstairs. So all in all not too bad.

At home we've been trying to go to shopping early so there are fewer people around.

Neither of us are sleeping all that great though, and getting on each other's last nerve.

Just want to be able to help others though, and have no clue how to right now.

A friend of mine posted this on the Book of Faces:
I know that many people want to help out in these times. But before you forward PSAs from random people who were "a doctor in Vermont" or "an ER nurse", please consider that it may be just hearsay at best, or disinformation at worst.

There are plenty of authoritative sources out there. They are easy to find and they have great advice. If you choose to believe something else randomly forwarded, that's your right. But forwarding it does not help.

Good advice, for sure.

I hope that he gets better soon.

Massachusetts has just locked down.

Charlie Baker never wanted to, but he's finally had to face the inevitable.

April 7 is our given deadline now. So, TriSec still out of work for the duration.

That abandoned Scout Camp I know in central NH is starting to look better every day.

Indiana goes on lockdown at midnight EST on Wednesday/11 PM Central Tuesday.

I am not sure what to do about my students. I am contacting them. Only one or two are doing the e-learning assignments.
