Due to the various requests for emoticons, sounds and other blog enhancements that seem to get scattered around the various blog posts, please use this blog to make all future requests. I am adding a link to the links box at the lower left of your screen...

NEW BLOG FEATURES

Ok, these aren't quite as much fun as the AudiCons, but they're still nice:

1) Pop-up options screen: I removed the Options box from the pages and replaced it with a button. You set your options on the pop-up box and then it goes away.

2) User emoticons: You can select one of the emoticons to be your own. Just click on the button and select one from the list (or type it in if you know the shortcut). The emoticon will show up next to your name on the comment header. I already snagged , btw.... :P

3) Changed the page selection at the bottom of the BlogList page (what you get on via the Home button) to make it more "industry standard".

4) Added a Table of Contents page; essentially, a single page list of all of the blog entries. The link is at the bottom of the BlogList page.

I also added these two AudiCons:

kahn:

intruder_alert:

and replaced the "jetpass" WAV file with one from Tri:

So - that's it for now !

Evening sir...Khan does not seem to be working. :kickcan:

Comment by BobR on 11/14/2007 06:00:00
I realized this evening that everyone would only be able to see their own user icons, so I had to make some code changes to fix that. I also fixed the misspelling of "khan" for the audicon (:bows head in shame:).

After I post, the blog order shifts from newest to oldest even though I don't request it.

Hi Everytime I go to the blog i have had to register to make a comment when I put my name and password in it comes up as incorrect login. I would appreciate your input. Thanks MMB

Hey there chief. The audio-cons don't seem to auto-populate in the blog for me anymore.

I get the new popup window and can see and play all of them, but when I click on them to insert them to the bloggie, nothing happens.

I'd like a freezing emoticon.

This has been fixed, no? yes?

Is better? No? Yes?

Liv, send a link of what you are looking for... and, if you can, send the emoticon link itself.

No. (logging in.) I'm with MMB on this one; I have to register every day from behind the firewall at work. (Could this be the culprit?) At home, I don't have this problem; I'm logged in as always when I come on over.

Checking sound...

Yes, clicking on the audicons is working now.

Comment by BobR on 11/27/2007 14:20:08
I want to clarify: You actually have to "register", or just login? It shouldn't let you register, because your name is already in the DB.

If you just have to login every time, that's because either your browser isn't configured to allow cookies, or it deletes them when you exit.

Comment by TriSec on 11/27/2007 17:17:39
I'm at work now.

When I try to login in the normal manner, it tells me that the user ID or Password is incorrect. I then go to register and it lets me right in.

This is on the blog only; I have never had a problem with the message board.

Comment by TriSec on 11/27/2007 20:33:30
Strike that on the audicons, too.

The ones that are listed here on the left will auto-populate. When I do the "display all in a popup", it doesn't work.

Comment by BobR on 11/27/2007 22:42:57
It seems like Mala, TriSec and MMB consistently have this problem. What browser and version are you all using?

Tri: You say that "display all in a popup" doesn't work. Does that mean you don't get the popup, or clicking on the AudiCon in the popup doesn't insert it into the edit box?... and how about the popup list of emoticons?

Also (Tri): Are you using the same browser and version at work that you do at home?... and is the AudiCon behavior the same at work as it is at home?

Comment by MMB on 11/27/2007 22:46:31
Hi What Trisec said is my same problem. Apparently not fixed I tried to go into the blog name, password= incorrect login. I just tried at around 5:40pm. I don't mean to be a problem but I don't want to get into trouble by reregistering. I can go to the blog I just cannot make a comment. It says please login. THanks MMB

You're not going to get into trouble by re-registering with the same name.

What browser are you using? What version?

Comment by BobR on 11/27/2007 22:59:51
FWIW - I've tested with FireFox version 2.0.0.9 on Windows and it works for me (also IE 7).

Comment by TriSec on 11/28/2007 00:40:44
Ah, it's at work that I'm having the problem. I just updated Firefox, so whatever that version is, and I'm using IE 7 there.

The sound situation is...I can click on the audicons on the left of the screen right now and it will populate here.

When I click "Display All in popup", I get the popup, I can see and play all of them, but nothing happens when I click on one. I'm using Firefox right now and...

Nothing.

Comment by TriSec on 11/28/2007 00:42:39
I can't login with IE here either. Firefox is not having a problem. If that helps any.

:shakes little fist at Bill Gates:

Yes, I have had it in the past. I only have had the problem with IE though. Firefox seems fine.

Today is worse though....usually I can close the browser window and come back and it will have remembered me. But, today if I close the window and come back, it prompts me to register. I deleted my cookies and temp files this morning. Could that be why?

I'll just keep the window open!

Try this:
Quote by BobR: One more thing to try: If you are logged into the blog, then click on "logout", then try logging right back in again without closing the browser, does it work? After logging out and logging back in again, and THEN closing the browser, do you still have to do the re-register thing?
We are workign on this very strange isshoe

Comment by BobR on 11/28/2007 16:18:45
FWIW - I made some changes to the login code. Since I can't duplicate the problems, I don't know if it will make things better or worse. If you end up not being able to login at all, let me know over on the board...

Fixed the AudiCons popup problem.

Got it. Changed my password back.

Comment by Raine on 12/03/2007 14:05:04
PLEASE NOTE: If you changed your password before, you'll need to change it again...

Comment by BobR on 12/03/2007 15:11:11
sorry for the login problems folks. I had a code problem that was blanking out the passwords. It's fixed now. You'll need to reset your password, but this should be the last time...

Comment by BobR on 12/05/2007 13:12:57
We've got the comments back, but without the user icons. That's just a workaround for now. I'm still waiting to hear back from the ISP on the missing component that - once restored - will give us the icons back...

Comment by BobR on 12/05/2007 17:52:16
Speaking of "support": I'd like to take a moment to point out new link in the heading of the blog called "Donate". We have until Dec. 11 to pay the yearly fee to the ISP that hosts this blog. Like everyone else here, money is a little tight, so we're asking for some help to keep this going. I'm not looking for money for myself; we just need to keep the lights on. We appreciate whatever you feel like tossing our way.

Thanks for making this a great place - without your participation, it wouldn't be so much fun.

BLOODY HELL! I can't for the life of me get my MB password right. Can 1 of you PM me.

I thought it was the same as my i.d. honestly, but that is not working!

I am a moron.

An FYI for new members: There was a code problem that was occurring when registering as a new member. It generated a false error. You actually WERE registered successfully.

The code was fixed; the management apologizes for the confusion...
