Double Standard?

Here is a video from 2010, of Senator John McCain holding a hearing with then-General David Petraeus. You can fast forward to the 2:12 minute mark.

This was 2 years before he was forced to resign in scandal. He was still in command of the United States Central Command. In 2010 he was nominated to be the commander of U.S. Forces in Afghanistan.

This is 11 hours, of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton being questioned in Congress regarding the events of September 1, 2012.

You don't have to watch it; it's 11 hours with one short break - believe me on this.

in 1988, Senator Joe Biden had two brain aneurysms. He is currently the Vice-President of the United States.

Former President Ronald Reagan had Alzheimer's while President, according to his son. We all know that FDR hid his paralysis from the public. John McCain had cancer and went on to become the Republican Nominee.

I am concerned for our nominee, but the point I am trying to make here is the double-standard that happens with women, and even more so with this woman. The pearl-clutching that the public wasn't told about her pneumonia is truly ridiculous. She is in a no-win situation.

Vox has a good write up about the illness speculation.
For children and adults who are otherwise healthy, pneumonia will typically clear up in a few days after a dose of oral antibiotics and some rest. (This kind of pneumonia is usually referred to as "walking pneumonia" because patients aren’t sick enough to be in the hospital.) For those with more severe infections and complications, it can take weeks to get better, and pneumonia can even be deadly.

"[Pneumonia] kills people sometimes," said Lionel Mandell, a pneumonia researcher at McMaster University. "Most of the time it doesn’t — especially if you’re well enough to be treated outside of the hospital."

The campaign hasn’t disclosed the cause of Clinton's particular infection or her symptoms. (The candidate is 68 years old.) And we don’t have full picture of her health. So let’s stop with the pneumonia punditry.

Clinton rules are different.
