Remember Me

It's his Obsession

Ah, those 80s! Remember this little ditty?

It could become Mr. Trump's theme song for his entire adult life.

No, seriously. Consider just the year 2020. You know the score - 130.000 dead, approaching 70,000 a day infected...riots in the street, minorities oppressed and marginalized...but this was a recent tweet from the alleged "Commander in Chief".

Has @BubbaWallace apologized to all of those great NASCAR drivers & officials who came to his aid, stood by his side, & were willing to sacrifice everything for him, only to find out that the whole thing was just another HOAX? That & Flag decision has caused lowest ratings EVER!

Just weeks ago, when the President should have been using his tweeter platform to encourage Americans, or perhaps give them information to stay alive, this was the theme:

Because the “Ratings” of my News Conferences etc. are so high, “Bachelor finale, Monday Night Football type numbers” according to the @nytimes, the Lamestream Media is going CRAZY. “Trump is reaching too many people, we must stop him.” said one lunatic. See you at 5:00 P.M.!

But in the end, it IS all about him. You might have heard that today's rally in nearby New Hampshire has been cancelled because of "weather". It's not so; here's today's forecast from Matt Noyes of NECN: FB4cast: With Tropical Storm Fay fizzling and gone, we reset the weekend weather - to right where we left off. Humid and very warm to hot! Be careful for rip currents at beaches today, swim parallel to shore if caught in one and keep an eye on the kiddos. There are likely other reasons to cancel, and at least one website is speculating about them. I did see in the Boston Globe yesterday that Governor Sununu (R-NH) would not snub the President on the tarmac, but would greet him while wearing a mask, and then NOT attend the rally - so I bet that played into the decision as well.

You do remember the Tulsa rally of 6,000 persons? Well, this was the articulate response from our elected official:

Do not believe the Fake News Media. Oklahoma speech had the highest Saturday television ratings in @FoxNews history. @seanhannity dominated T.V. with my interview on Thursday night, more than @CNN & MSDNC COMBINED. These are the real polls, the Silent Majority, not FAKE POLLS!

Donald Trump's obsession with ratings seems to be a longstanding love affair. It's an older story that I found, but it checks out.

It is obviously more obfuscation. Remember his 'base'. It's the low-intelligence, unambitious type that desperately want to be "popular'. Most of them likely spend multiple hours a day sitting in front of a run-down TV in their ramshackle houses - so those "ratings" are all important. See Karen? We's watching that there popular show. We need to tell everybody so we look smart.

There should be a way to leverage that to advantage, but in the critical metric, it's already proven that his rabid 'base' doesn't care.

"Mr. President, the ratings show that you are worse than Obama in most respects, you should do something to improve your numbers."

"He's not president anymore - I did that already."
