Morning

Glad to see I'm not the only one dragging this morning

Good morning all-- TriSec -- Thank you for the blog stub. I had planned on getting up before we hit the road back home this morning, and -- well I just woke up.

Comment by TriSec on 07/19/2010 13:39:36
Heh. I would have been happy to sleep in, too.

NH Route 16 was a mess coming down from Conway yesterday....then 128 had Rush-Hour traffic on it late on a Sunday afternoon. Ick.

Good thing the local Chinese Buffet makes extra-potent liquid offerings.

so is it a bad thing that I'm on vacation at home and hiding from back stabbing pain in the ass neighbors?

Goooood morning all and Happy Mondee!

As you might have heard by now, we've had a slight development in the ongoing well integrity tests in that there has been some seabed oil seepage detected. I haven't seen that on the live ROVer feeds yet, but I did find this:

That is definitely oil, and it's definitely seeping from multiple places where that pipe was either welded or at a junction where there's a gasket. It's not much but as you can gather from the stalactites of brown gunk building up on the "ledge" above the leaks, it's been going on for some time before we noticed it.

If that's a leaking gasket, it's not that huge a deal. Gaskets do that sometimes under pressure and it can't be helped. If it's a weld, that's a REALLY BAD THING and they need to open the flow back up soon.

Bonus quote, from BP's early morning briefing:

The sealing cap system and many of the other containment systems have never before been deployed at these depths or under these conditions, and their efficiency and ability to contain or flare the oil and gas cannot be assured.

Idle thoughts on the Tea Party today....

How come they're never for term limits, or congressional pay cuts?

Aaaand if they win any influence this fall, all of us with Republican representation should call them every day after the election and ask them if they have repealed health care and Wall street reform yet?

Or would that be counter-productive?

A passing note for the gentleman from Jacksonville; We found a small shop in North Conway tucked away in a side alley that purported to sell Authentic Hawaiian "Shave Ice". Very nice.

That last caller was about one sentence away from the "How come they ain't no White History Month?" talking point.

See-on? Sky-on? Yikes.

By the by, yesterday we happened by the hamlet with the best place name in all of New England, and quite possibly, the entire United States.

"Effingham" (NH). Don't argue.

Hi everyone.

I've hardly been on line today. I had an early doctor's appointment and then had to wait forever. Went to the post office, then showered so I am finally online for a little while until I have to leave for work. Hopefully, I got my vacation approved for next week.

Hi, TriSec! There is also an Effingham, Illinois.

I hope that everyone is doing well. In the good news, my car is out of the shop. So, it is back to the job hunt. Tomorrow, I meet an old friend downtown for a networking meeting.

So the board itself is DOA then, I take it from the fact that I get a general IPBfree page when I hit the board url.

Hi Al! < Waves Southwesterly>

I have no idea what's going on with the forum....Bob might have a clue on that. I've been there so infrequently recently, I know it was down for days, if not weeks, before I noticed.

Seems to be a sign of the times; the internets seem to have shifted beyond forum postings, as many I used to frequent are withering on the vine.

Das Blog will still be here for the foreseeable future.

Comment by Al from WV on 07/19/2010 21:29:05
Shrug. It was a way to keep up with a couple people that I didn't have another channel to, but that's ok. I'll find another way, not a big deal.

As I said the other day, it seems that most of my activity is here or facebook. I have to get back on Linkedin, I haven't been over there in a long time. I wonder if I should be glad that I haven't embraced Twitter.

Comment by Al from WV on 07/19/2010 21:40:01
seems most of mine is in chat rooms these days, and that on sites that have nothing to do with politics or current events, what with me trying to keep my blood pressure under control. Like I said, however, macht nichts.

Tornado warning in Worcester County. The cell that's causing it is heading straight this way. Hopefully it dies out before it gets here.

Wife & I sat outside and watched a nasty cell slip off to the north of us.

I'll repeat this tomorrow, but the forum is gone forever...
