Another storm our New England Weather Weenies got wrong.
Rain out my way; less than 1/6 of the forecasted amount out here in Worcester. (A foot expected, about 2 inches on the ground. It's above freezing, we're not getting any more.)

David Koch's house needs to collapse on him in the next storm.
Earlier this week, AFP, which is chaired by Koch and believed to be financed by several other plutocrats from the New York City region, released a letter warning members of Congress not to vote for the proposed federal aid package for victims of the storm that swept New Jersey, New York City and much of the surrounding area in October. An announcement on the group’s website says that the vote next week for the Sandy aid package will be a “key voteâ€â€”meaning senators who support sending money for reconstruction could face an avalanche of attack ads in their next election. Already, opposition to the bill is growing, although it passed one procedural hurdle last night.

Yep. We don't dwell on history like Balkans or Muslims. We remember, but I'm not going to hold it against Yankee fans 400 years from now. (Although the Yankees always will suck.)
Hell, we don't even tar and feather English visitors anymore, and that's been just 237 years.
(Family and Tribal grudges like that are a large part of why the Balkans and the Middle East are the way they are.)

I am on the penultimate treatment this week.
Last one scheduled for Tuesday, January 8.
We're already working on a post-treatment plan. Doc wants a chest CT scan for a look-see, and then we'll move on from there.
I don't know what kind of short-term follow up and additional testing I'll need yet.

I can't believe it's even quieter here than it was yesterday. I suppose those who live near the NH border got a bit more snow and decided to stay home. Like Tri, all I got when I opened the door to go outside this morning was a blast of water in the face with just a little slush on the Honda.
The only departments with anywhere near normal staffing are Purchasing and Finance.
Have one more purchase order to do for my LabVIEW maintenance in addition to setting up to calibrate all our test equipment.
And thanks to the Europeans, there's a new testing requirement for lighting fixtures we have to meet. They measure the RF radiation from a lighting fixture (yes CFL and LED lamps do emit RF, even fluorescent lamps with electronic ballasts do). They defined a fixture that's supposed to simulate a human head and neck. Only $6K.....
Google Van der Hoofden test head if you want to glaze your eyes over.....

I have a vintage "Classic Book Pack" (in royal purple, of course.) I never actually used it as a book pack. I got it as a replacement day pack for a piece of junk I had.
The bag is now 25 years old...still in good shape, and it's literally been around the world. (Yes, it went to Manila) I still use it as a carry-on when we travel, even for a older design it still fits under the seat or in the overhead. Maybe just by pure luck.

And it gets me into the air, for only a little bit more than motorcycle school would have cost. (Sorry, screw that. Motorcycle or wings - you know what wins.)

I may ditch all my other post-chemo plans and go to glider school.

BOSTON (CBS) - It’s official. Congressman Ed Markey (D-Seventh District) is the first Democrat to announce his candidacy for the U.S. Senate seat to be vacated if and when John Kerry is confirmed as Secretary of State.
In a statement this afternoon, Markey says in part: “I have decided to run for the U.S. Senate because this fight is too important. There is so much at stake. I refuse to allow the Tea Party-dominated Republican Party to lead us off the fiscal cliff and into recession. I won’t allow the NRA to obstruct an assault weapons ban yet again. I will not sit back and allow oil and coal industry lobbyists to thwart our clean energy future or extremists to restrict women’s rights and health care.â€
That's my Congressman, gang.

Ed Markey walks on water in this district. I can't speak for the rest of this Commonwealth, though.
Mike Capuano of Somerville is consistently mentioned, as well as Senator Kennedy's widow, Vicki. There's no other strong leads at the moment, although Bill Keating from Cape Cod may also run.
And on the other side, Scott Brown is a foregone conclusion, but after getting beat a bit ago, I wouldn't be so sure.

Sweet! Soaring so much better than a motorcycle. If I am not mistaken that stick and rudder time can do something on the powered lessons if you so desire.

That's what I get for running around and doing stuff on my day off. I even picked up Amazing Spider-Man #700 where Peter Parker has now kicked the bucket in the 616 (primary) Marvel Universe although we now have Dock Ock in Parker's body. I can't wait to see the reaction on the boards to this.
