I don't think I can say it anymore clearly than Velveeta did yesterday. This is a terrible situation and there is no good answer. It doesn't feel good at all to say 'We were screaming at the top of our lungs that this would happen' In fact, it makes me angry. Very angry...

What kind of damn world are we in where suddenly, Lindsey Graham is insisting that President Obama work with Iran to solve the Iraq problem?? Via the Wire, Graham yesterday:
The Iranians can provide some assets to make sure Baghdad doesn’t fall. We need to coordinate with the Iranians and the Turks need to get in the game and get the Sunni Arabs back into the game, form a new government without (Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al) Maliki.”
and last November after the US negotiated with Iran on a nuclear deal:
We’re dealing with people who are not only untrustworthy: this is a murderous regime that murders their own people, create chaos and mayhem throughout the whole world, the largest sponsor of terrorism. This deal doesn’t represent the fact we’re dealing with the most thuggish people in the whole world.”
Really this is happening.

Now - as far as his very good friend John McCain: HE has called for the president to shit-can Obama's entire National Security Team and replace them with…
'McCain said Obama should replace that team because they failed to protect Iraq and are making the same mistake in pulling out of an equally vulnerable Afghanistan. McCain said Obama should instead recall "those who succeeded in Iraq."
He wants to bring back Former CIA director Gen. David Petraeus. That's the guy who was having an affair with his biographer. Brilliant.

Meanwhile, over on Morning Joe, you will never guess who they brought into to comment on how to fix the mess that is now Iraq. That's right friends, Paul Bremer, Former Executive Director of the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq, wants us to double down and return the the very same policies that created this awful mess 10 years running. After Bush installed him (May of 2003), here were his first two moves:
As the top civilian administrator of the former Coalition Provisional Authority, Bremer was permitted to rule by decree. Among his first and most notable decrees were Coalition Provisional Authority Order Number 1, which banned the Ba'ath party in all forms and Coalition Provisional Authority Order Number 2 dismantled the Iraqi Army.

Over on Meet the Press this sunday, they trotted out Paul Wolfowitz.
He infamously predicted the war reconstruction effort could pay for itself from Iraqi oil revenue (for reference, the cost of the Iraq War is now estimated to be more than $2 trillion), and publicly accused Saddam Hussein of possessing weapons of mass destruction long after the intelligence community informed the Pentagon that he did not. Later, Wolfowitz claimed that the conflict was primarily about liberating the Iraqi people rather than confronting the WMD threat, while also making the assertion -- without evidence -- that without the invasion, "we would have had a growing development of Saddam's support for terrorism."

Ten years after the start of the war, Wolfowitz admitted that the Bush administration bungled the conflict and should never have taken control of the country away from Iraqi leadership, despite having been the first senior Bush official after September 11, 2001 to call for Hussein's overthrow.
I really don't know what to say, I am angry that this is happening and I myself see no good options. To look to the last decade for those answers is so severely dysfunctional that I can only hang my head and sigh. So many lives wasted on this illegal tragedy that was Bush's folly.

Yes we have bases in Germany and a few other places but we have worked with those governments to keep those open. Iraq's government voted for us to leave.

Correct. Sadly, the neocons are too dishonest to point this out.

Is anyone else concerned about the potential for this Iran/Iraq/Syria mess to be spun out of control? Obama, his team and the Congressional Dems really need to be aggressive in their messaging on this. If they hold back and lose control of it, it will screw the midterm elections big time.

Under the ruling. I now own all my brother's guns. I wouldn't have to send him the money for any sales of them. But, as I think about, it closes down one of the truck sized loopholes in the gun laws.

I did take note of the term you used. I also think that is was more aimed at, as I said, straw sellers.


Hence my use of "gun care taker." I am a former gun owner I sold the one my brother gave me.
