Ask a VOTE!
Author: TriSec    Date: 11/06/2018 11:01:46

Good Morning. We interrupt today's regularly-scheduled Ask a Vet for a special announcement.

https://athensema.files.wordpress.com/2014/10/vote_590_476.jpg

It's election day. Did you vote? Early? Often? Absentee? Or are you like me, and dutifully trooped down to your local polling place and stood in line?

Let us know - how are things going in your neck of the woods?

Got any problems? CALL THIS NUMBER: 866-OUR-VOTE...and check the website for even more information and assistance.

There's long a traditional saying among voters...."If you don't vote, you can't complain". Well, this is America, of course you can complain. Talk is cheap. Especially if you just bought an iphone, I bet you just stood in a longer line. Shouldn't this be just as important?

Finally - this was a thing under the Bush administration. Remember it? How much further down that path have we gone in the 15 years since this was published?

Mornin' all!

Not sure what I did but I woke up with a sore & stiff shoulder. Not naproxen nor "the daily dose" was enough to cut it.

Morning

Voting done, there was actually a line....in Manassas, VA....for a midterm. All the years I've lived in that town, I've not ever seen that. Saw 2 people with Rep & Dem sample ballots, everyone else had Dem sample ballots. That was at 7:05am this morning Weems precinct.

Morning, comrades. Voted, 8th ballot in my precinct today. My friend at the polls stated there were about 4,100 early votes cast. No word on absentee ballots.

But alas, in deepest blue Massachusetts, our outcome will do little to impact the nation.

We were #248 and #249 When we voted at 1045 this morning!

A steady stream of voters have been coming in according to the poll workers there. -

Heading out to vote soon. Hopefully the shitty weather won't keep people away.

There's a LOT of bullshit going on down in Georgia right now. Polling locations that started taking votes two hours late, machines that have no goddamned power cords, polling locations that were moved overnight..

We walked in the rain.

(granted it was less than five minutes to the polling place, we still walked in the rain)

Final Predictions time!

House : Dems will flip at least 40 seats and lose 3 to take the majority.

Senate : For certain, Dems will flip Arizona & Nevada & GOP will get North Dakota. Dems will hold Florida, Montana, Indiana and WV & GOP will hold Texas. One of the Mississippi seats will go to an auto runoff. Missouri and Tennessee will be nailbiters. At the moment I'm gonna call it a 50-50 split.

Back from the polls. A decent line, but was in and out in 15 minutes. I remember being the only one showing up to vote in the primary.

Scoop, you have any state predictions?

I had to go to the post office afterwards, and then it finally stops raining on the way home.

Both Colbert and Seth Meyers are doing live shows tonight.

We have some Indiana polling places staying open late due to power problems, late openings, and poll worker shortages.

Every neighbor I have seen this afternoon either told me they were walking to go vote. Everyone I asked said hey would be doing so as soon as the spouse got home, they would be dong so.

I love that people have volunteered this info to me, knowing that we've only been here 2 months.

(I think the Truck's bumper stickers make it clear where we stand. )
