Thought I'd combo the Friday blog and do something fluffy and with a nod to our National Parks.
The Assateaque Wild Horses
Also know as Chincoteague ponies on the Virginia side.
No matter how they got there, the now wild ponies are beautiful, hardy, and a sight to behold.

The Assateaque Wild Horses
Local folklore describes the Assateague horses as survivors of a shipwreck off the Virginia coast. While this dramatic tale of struggle and survival is popular, there are no records yet that confirm it. The most plausible explanation is that they are the descendants of horses that were brought to barrier islands like Assateague in the late 17th century by mainland owners to avoid fencing laws and taxation of livestock.

The Chincoteague Pony became an official registered breed in 1994. The average height of a Chincoteague Pony is between 12 and 13 hands (any horse that stands less than 14 hands is considered a Pony). Got news last night that one of Mrs. TriSec's friends in Connecticut has a "breakthrough case" of the ol' Covid.
She's doing OK right now - fortunately vaccinated, so symptoms are mild at this time. But you never know what this plague will bring.

I made it to Los Angeles last night and I am settling in. I have a little more to do with storage.
Meanwhile, I an waiting for my next steps with the Los Angeles Unified School District. One friend thinks that I will likely start teaching just after Labor Day --- and Rosh Hashanah (which is just after Labor Day this year). So, I will be in touch.
