Shamelessness
Author: Raine    Date: 05/11/2023 13:00:56

I did not watch the thing that happened on CNN last night. There are arguments for and against why it even happened at all. From everything I can see it went exactly as I thought it would.

He Mocked his assault victims. He bragged about women's rights being rolled back. He repeated racist tropes and called a Black police officer a 'thug'. All in all, it was what you would expect from a campaign rally. The problem is, this was framed as a town hall hosted by a major news network.

It went as expected from TFG. He lied, and the moderator pushed back against said lies. Afterward, pundits discussed the self-inflicted wound as though it were an unfortunate accident. One person on the pundit panel was not happy. It was Rep. Byron Donalds ®, Florida.
“Town halls are for the voters, not for the press or the person who is the moderator,” Donalds said. “Kaitlan spent more time interjecting her own viewpoints or her own views on the situation ..”

Before Donalds could finish, anchor Anderson Cooper interjected to say “those are facts though.”

“Are you guys now going to interject your opinions on me or do I get a chance,” Donalds shot back. (snip)

Donalds also criticized Collins’ decision to ask several questions on the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol and Trump’s repeated refusal to accept the result of the 2020 election.

That led to an argument between Donalds and several others on the panel, including former Trump White House official Alyssa Farrah, when Donalds would not say that Trump lost the 2020 election.

“Voters want to talk about the border, inflation, foreign policy,” Donalds said as the panel pressed him to say if he accepted the result of the 2020 election. “This is what’s frustrating to a lot of people. You want me to state it the way you want me to state it.”
Boldface mine. Later on, over at another cable news channel Minority leader Hakeem Jeffries said this:

“One, facts don’t matter. Two, hypocrisy is not a constraint to their behavior and three, they actually believe that shamelessness is a superpower.”

FTFG and all those that are playing the dangerous game of promoting him.

Everything he said was a lie.

This was not a neutral audience.

Mornin' all!

I didn't watch the CNN thing. I had zero desire to. But for those who did, cleanse your mind with this.

"Kaitlan pressed him again and again and made news. Made a LOT of news." And "that is our job."

is it?

Good morning, bloggers!!!!

As I was getting ready, KNX - the local all-news station - had Brad Bannon, the political consultant, as a guest for a few minutes. While he said that this was a win for TFG and his supporters, it likely turned off those who have any doubts about Trump and may have helped his primary opponents. (He expects TFG to get the GOP nomination.) However, he said it also turned off independent voters, who saw TFG double down on his position. Bannon called the event a win for President Biden, who has more to use against Trump. Bannon added that it was a win for prosecutors as TFG kept repeating his positions on the 2020 election and January 6, 2021.

Hi Scoop!!

What him going on air or CNN even giving him the airtime? Or never mind that we know it's both.

The fact that they had a pro maga crown was disgusting.

BTW, can I just say I love Hakeem Jeffries. He's fully knowledgeable about every subject I've seen him speak on, and he speaks plainly, and he's on point with zingers and word play. The party in the House is in good hands.

It was more appropriate for a political ad. I doubt that TFG would appear with anything besides a supportive crowd.

He is amazing.

He had a great mentor, I think.
