I will freely admit to being an opossum convert. There was something about them that made me uneasy. But over the years we've all learned so much more about the wonderful critters.

1. Opossums eat ticks by the thousands.
2. They are North America's only known marsupial.
3. They are very agile.
4. We can thank opossums for snake bite anti-venom
5. They have high levels of immunity so they rarely if ever contract rabies.

So here's to a great American animal. I'd rather have them then then.... well you know.

Have a great weekend, stay safe, and Happy 4th a bit early.

Mala

Good morning, bloggers!!!!!

I have to say that I am not surprised by the court's rulings. The conservative majority wants to roll back several decisions that were precedents. We will see less diverse college campuses, fewer services and protections for LGBTQ Americans, and more student debt.

Yesterday, President Biden said he was not in favor of expanding the court. When the current number of nine justices was established, we only had nine circuit courts. Now, we have thirteen. federal circuit courts. Logically, there should be one justice to address the issues arising from each circuit court.

The current Supreme Court has managed to convince many Americans to oppose the conservative agenda. The GOP long wanted a conservative court majority. Let me close with a quote from science fiction author Theodore Sturgeon: "After a time, you may find that having is not so pleasing a thing after all as wanting. It is not logical, but it is often true." While Sturgeon had Spock deliver this to a Vulcan rival, it may be an appropriate message to today's conservatives. Have they won a few battles only to set themselves up to lose the war?
