Yesterday, on the National Mall, the "Rededicate 250: A National Jubilee of Prayer, Praise & Thanksgiving" was held. From the website:
On Sunday, May 17, 2026, the National Mall will be the scene of a historic gathering as Americans of every background across the country prepare for the nation’s 250th birthday with Scripture, testimony, prayer, and rededication of our country as One Nation to God. From morning fellowship in front of the U.S. Capitol to an evening filled with music anchored at the main stage on 12th Street, Rededicate 250 will be rooted in giving thanks for God’s presence in our national life throughout 250 years of American history and asking for his guidance for the next 250.
(snip)

Three Pillars of the Day

Pillar I — The Miracles that Made Us: A reflection on God’s providence throughout 250 years, honoring the faith that inspired America’s founders and has carried us forward in every generation since.

Pillar II — The Miracles Still in Our Midst: Personal testimonies of God’s healing in our lives and in our land.

Pillar III — A New Birth of Faith and Freedom: A collective expression of gratitude for 250 years of freedom — and a unified moment of rededication asking for God’s blessing, guidance, and grace for the next 250.
The usual culprits appeared. Stacy Abrams accused Mike Johnsom of celebrating the return of Jim Crow. She's not wrong.
Stacey Abrams accused House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) of celebrating “the return of Jim Crow to the South” after he commended the Supreme Court for ruling race-based gerrymandering violated the 1965 Voting Rights Act.

Abrams ripped Johnson and the recent redistricting decisions during an interview on MS NOW’s The Weekend: Primetime on Sunday. The show played a clip of Johnson telling Fox News earlier in the day that the Supreme Court’s 6-3 ruling that Louisiana’s congressional map violated the VRA was “long overdue” and was “bringing back fairness and certainty to the system.”
Meanwhile, The pedo-in-chief made a video for his evengelical, white nationalist supporters.
In his video, which the White House repurposed from the America Reads the Bible event in April, Trump was barely able to pronounce his words correctly, and recited them as if he couldn’t be bothered to understand their meaning. He quoted from Christian nationalists’ favorite verse, 2 Chronicles 7:14, imploring a sinful nation to save itself by turning its face to God.

And people are still drinking the grift up like nectar.

Hi all.

I was again "off the grid" up at Scout Camp, finishing up Weekend 2 of our extensive training course.

I saw my dear friend Marcy, who helped me through my mental health issues two years ago. She is in fine fettle, and perhaps so am I - no pro-bono work was needed this weekend.

The kitchen ran as smoothly as ever, and we also had some interesting conversations around the fire about the future of Scouting. (Saving that for Saturday.)

I'm all done for the summer, so gearing up for more training, another week at camp, and our 30th anniversary trip to the fabulous Palm Beaches as well as The Happiest Place on Earth. (Got all our dining reservations today!)

In every country and in every age, the priest has been hostile to liberty. He is always in alliance with the despot, abetting his abuses in return for protection to his own.

Jake Lang, one of the 1,600 or so January 6ers pardoned by Trump, unfurled a white nationalist banner at yesterday’s Washington Nationals game.

It refers to the racist great replacement theory and calls for deporting 100+ million (non-white) people. He’s now banned from Nationals games.

The Nats would have done well to LET the crowd kill them instead of escorting them out.

Baseball today is like Basketball in the 80s. The old white folks don't like the game anymore because it's dominated by dark-skinned, Caribbean Hispanics.

Not sure who the "Great White Hope" is right now. All the lighter-skinned All Stars are....

Asian.

When he (Lang) says "they might have killed us", that should have told him just how unpopular his message is.
