Today is April 19th, the fifteenth anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombings. Naturally, it makes sense that there would be a Second amendment rights march on Washington DC that has nothing to do whatsoever with this tragic event on our nation's history.

It's alright though, because it's gun free:
"We don't know where this rumor originally started, but it seems that it has been perpetuated despite our very clear posting on our site that the unlawful carrying of firearms is not permitted. These people may be confusing us with another group that is holding an armed rally in Virginia on the same day as Second Amendment March. That group is a separate entity entirely and is not at all associated with the Second Amendment March event."
Funny that tho, that there will be an open carry gun rally at Fort Hunt National Park and Gravelly Point on the Potomac today as well. Is it lost on anyone else that Fort Hunt is a national park and that it was President Obama who signed a law allowing them the right to carry there?

It is also not lost on me that the Oathkeepers will be represented at both rallies. Larry Pratt, Executive Director of Gun Owners of America, will be at both rallies as as well. At least that is what the link above says when compared to this link, where the organizer of the rally - Dan Almond is interviewed as of April 17. Watch:
He notes, btw, that US Park police are handling security, in case of threats to the attendees. He states that he will be there with a loaded pistol on the waist, unloaded semi automatic on the back will be on his body, in accordance to rules of non engagement. Please notice the date of this video, it's April 17th.

Wait. This April 12 press release from the Oathkeepers (Co-founded by Almond) says the following
The Board of Directors of Oath Keepers, Inc. has decided against participating in the “Restore the Constitution” rally in Virginia near Washington D.C. scheduled for April 19, 2010. That rally is organized by a very honorable U.S. Marine Corps veteran who saw combat in Iraq, and who is also a patriotic member in Oath Keepers. The organizer is Daniel Almond of the Georgia Oath Keepers Chapter. Oath Keepers salutes Daniel Almond for organizing this pro-Constitution rally.
So which is it?

My point here is that while these groups make claims of false information, they themselves are not really being as open and transparent as they could be regarding these rallies. They are connected, it's just that one is going to have guns and the other is not. It seems as tho Oathkeepers pulled out of supporting the events but its founder is there as a simple private citizen. From WaPo
Daniel Almond, a three-tour veteran of Iraq, is ready to "muster outside D.C." on Monday with several dozen other self-proclaimed patriots, all of them armed. They intend to make history as the first people to take their guns to a demonstration in a national park, and the Virginia rally is deliberately being held just a few miles from the Capitol and the White House.
[snip]

There have been no accidental discharges or arrests at the open-carry rallies, according to a review of news accounts. The Fort Hunt rally, however, has caused particular consternation and alarm in the online world where gun-rights advocates plan, recruit and discuss strategy.

Oath Keepers, which in a year has grown to 20,000 online members, signed on early as an event sponsor but abruptly pulled out on April 12. "It had gotten to the point that it would be dangerous to attend," said board member Rex McTyeire, citing an escalation of threatening rhetoric online from some participants. "There are people out there willing to do anything to create chaos in an uncontrolled situation, and [the event] is wide open for disaster."

Organizers of another April 19 rally, the Second Amendment March at the Washington Monument, want it known that they have nothing to do with the Restore the Constitution muster. "We are a peaceful, law-abiding group that will follow all local and federal laws," the march organizers' Web site says. "That group is a separate entity entirely and is not at all associated," but at least two speakers are appearing at both rallies, including Larry Pratt, the executive director of Gun Owners of America, a key force behind the D.C. rally.
I hope I cleared up any confusion that Left wing Bloggers and the media may have caused. In the video above, Almond states that there will be people caravanned up to Gravelly Point. No connection to the Oathkeepers whatsoever, simply because they said so. All they did was change the name at the last minute. That's it.

It's the left's fault for not figuring all this out. It's our fault for being suspicious of the date, since it was one when this country experienced an act of horrific domestic terrorism by a person who not only identified with this movement -- but championed it -- by martyring himself for it.

I suppose Timothy McVeigh had no reason to choose April 19 other than the events at Concord and lexington. Right.
