As noted in yesterday's
excellent blog by Raine, the immediate and far-reaching outrage over a headline in the newspaper is premature, and likely misplaced. Once again, the purveyors of anger on the left
against The Left have sewn mistrust against the best president we've had in our lifetimes.
It would be one thing if my fellow liberals and progressives looked at them as the loons that they are. Have they
ever written anything in support of the president? We know that some members of the "Professional Left" are making money from the professional right, but
we've covered that one before. What irks me no end are the smart, informed people that should know better that start blasting their emotional shotguns in all directions every time one of these writers spews out yet another angry screed magnifying some tiny (or imagined) misdeed by President Obama.
Once the bile is foaming, there's no talking to these people. If you ask them to wait until all the facts are out, you're called naive or stupid. If you point out that the headline in question is misleading and the facts speak otherwise, you're told that the headline - not the facts - falls in line with all of his previous "transgressions".
And - ultimately - if you are proven correct, and point out that they got riled up over nothing, they will sullenly admit only that Obama did the right thing THIS time, but it he should have also done A, B, and C, and that doesn't negate all the previous misdeeds, and they are not going to be so easily won over, and warily state that they have their eye on him, and remember when he did THIS horrible thing??.... blah, blah, blah...
I have two words for you people:
FUCK OFFI am sick and tired of your constant negativity. I am worn out by your addiction to outrage. I am way past your knee-jerk opposition carrying over from the previous administration. If you think President Obama is no better than Bush (or the same as), then you are a complete idiot. If you think President Obama has not accomplished anything worthwhile while in office, then you have blinders on, and you REALLY need to get over the fact that Hillary Clinton did not win the presidency (much less Dennis Kucinich).
I've written on
more than one occassion about all of the accomplishments of his presidency. There's also the matter of what he
can't accomplish as president. Sometimes, it requires Congress to take action. No "Public Option" in the health care bill? Blame the blue dogs in the Senate (and don't forget that what IS in that Act required using the budget reconciliation maneuver). DOMA? That's going to require the Congress or the Supreme Court to change (which brings up another
important point as to why President Obama needs to be re-elected).
Now that he has to deal with a Republican-led House, the ability to get ANYTHING done is nearly impossible. All of you assholes that constantly denegrate everything the president does (and the firebagger "journalists") are to blame for that, for not voting and for inspiring others on the left to not vote. Ed Schultz once again proclaimed he will not vote for Obama in 2012 because of this
perceived attack on Social Security. Ed is not very bright. Ed can fuck off too.
Our only hope against the goose-stepping well-(financially)-oiled Republican machine is a certain amount of solidarity on our side. Does the country
really have to go into the shitter before you will grudgingly support a Democrat that isn't a progressive wet-dream? Really?...
If that's the case - our demise rests on your shoulders. I hope you're happy... not.
