Another Damn Blog
Author: velveeta jones    Date: 04/06/2014 15:13:26

Velveeta awoke this morning with several ideas for a spectacular blog entry and was having a difficult time culling them down.

There is the never-ending, yet tragic story of Flight 370 and never-ending, tragic story of CNN who won't stop covering the story. Sort of a tragedy within a tragedy, yes? Can you imagine what they would have done with the Lindbergh kidnapping.

1932 Wolf Blitzer (shouting): "I've just been handed a notification. New reports are in that a neighbor of the residence nearby the Lindbergh estate claims that gumshoe's are scouring the surroundings and have found tire tracks in which it appears that someone made tracks in a hurry! We only hope that this is not a trip for biscuit and some patsy will take the fall. We turn now to this dame Candy Crowley who will give us the weaker-sex perspective of this horrible story".

Anyway, while I was trying to pay attention to the breaking news (again) of Flight 370 I found this poem and thought I share it.

Did I lose you already? Back when I said 'poem'?

Listen, while we await the "pings" from the Indian Ocean and hope that it's not some random cell phone or other electronic junk that's just part of the huge pile of trash we humans have put in the waters, let's talk about rape.

Estimates put rape of women (over 12 years old) at every 2 minutes here in the good ol' USA and about once every 6 seconds worldwide. To say it's a problem is an understatement.

I was horrified to the point of puking when I read this story:

A Delaware man convicted of raping his three-year-old daughter only faced probation after a state Superior Court judge ruled he "will not fare well" in prison.

Even if you don't read the story because it's so horrible, know his name: Robert H. Richards IV. He is the great-grandson of the duPont family. He's wealthy. And evil. And he'll see no time behind bars.

While your swallowing blood from grinding your teeth, here is something that will - at least in part - inspire you. I encourage us all to pass this around through social media, especially if you have teen or pre-teen's around you. Rape is something that is learned. Boy's can and should be taught that it's not okay. Teach boy's and never again will you have to hear another one of these:
