Sunday Review

Apologies that today's blog may be a tad short and slightly incoherent. It may not matter to ya'll, as I’m assuming that most of you played the "John McCain 'my friends'" drinking game, so you'll still be in bed, the hospital, or in an alcoholic blackout.

Let's revisit a couple of stories that may have been missed this week, shall we? Especially those few that were not, nor will not, be picked up by the "main $tream media".

George "Gilligan" bush's Pastor, the guy that refused non-Christians to attend the coronation of bush in 2001, has actually come out against John McCain! Well, that's weird. Seems McCain may not be "moral" enough. Also seems, the proverbial "straw" was the fact that McCain offered his wife up to dance nekkid at Sturgis.

The Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell of the Windsor Village United Methodist Church was the pastor that gave the official benedictions at Bush's inauguration in 2001 and 2005. More recently, he presided over Jenna Bush's wedding ceremony. I'm not sure if he allowed non-Christians at the wedding, but he previously convinced our pResident to exclude them at the benedictions.

In a conference call interview he had this to say about Mr. McCain:

"Well, I don't know a lot about John McCain's family history, I do know, however, that as recently as last week I think it was, the Senator made a comment in South Dakota regarding his wife entering some Buffalo Chips contest which is this topless deal and if she were to enter she would probably win it and my personal opinion and based on my understanding of the Christian faith, that's not not, N-O-T, not the type of expression that a presidential candidate, or anyone for that matter who is a follower of the Christian faith, ought to make," said the Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell. "I don't know if that is a perfect case in point, but it surely does help to juxtapose the DNA of Senator Obama, if you would, versus the DNA of Senator McCain."

But wait, it get weirder. McCain spokesman Brian Rogers responded to Caldwell's criticism with this:

"These people are Obama campaign surrogates. These kinds of personal attacks are disgraceful. This absolutely exposes the hypocrisy of Obama's claim to represent a 'new kind of politics.'"

Um, okay. Where to start, where to start......... The good Pastor and friend of pResident bush is now an Obama surrogate? How’d that happen? Brainwash? Abduction by aliens? Could it be that he doesn’t believe in hypocrisy? Its almost too funny for this not to be some bizarre TV sitcom. I await Mr. Furley to storm into the apartment upstairs and catch John and Cindy in a compromising position!

Also, I may need to look up the definition of “personal attack”. I didn’t think that revealing facts about someone, pertinent to the job they are applying for, to be a personal attack. Was I wrong? As I recall, “personal attack” is simply an ad hominem argument, wherein you refute facts with a non sequitur retort. Such as:

Joe Lieberman: “John McCain was a war hero and wants America to have victory in Iraq”
Velveeta: “Joe, you’re a freak and you hate America.”

See how that works?

And this just seems right up there in the Republican play-book; I mean, look how well they deflected that. Not only did it become a personal attack but it was made by Obama himself! Very well done Brian. That clever Brian knows that the average Rush/Savage/Hannity listening genius will not know the difference between a personal attack and a personal opinion. One cannot smear a person with facts, in this case, the fact that McBoob is an immoral cretin who left his first wife when she became disfigured and has no respect for his current wife who he’d love to see shake her ass in a beauty contest that only befits a public toilet. (No, really, I’m sure its a fine beauty contest). Its damn difficult to “attack” with “facts”. By the way, weren’t the Republicans, at one time, the party of personal responsibility? Whatever happened to that?

In other news, Republicans (and a few Democrats who claim to be Hillary supporters but now, for some unexplained reason, will cast their vote to McCain) are still trying to alert us to the fact that Barack (middle name reminder) Hussein Obama is not really an American citizen.

What, you say? Well, you may have missed this tidbit from the local Honolulu news

People who question whether U.S. Sen. Barack Obama is a U.S. citizen continue to request his birth certificate from the state Department of Health, but they won't get a definitive answer from Hawai'i health officials.

Hawai'i birth certificates — just as with death, marriage and certain divorce documents — are released only to people with a "tangible interest," such as the people themselves, their parents, spouses, grandparents or other relatives, Health Department spokeswoman Janice Okubo said.

The Obama campaign said it has posted a copy of his birth certificate at www.fightthesmears.com in response to Internet chatter that the Illinois senator is not a natural-born citizen. But the posting has done little to curb the nearly weekly requests to the Health Department for copies of the original, Okubo said.
Some skeptics point to the lack of an official state seal on the birth certificate posted on the Obama campaign Web site.

That’s right, loyal readers. Barack Hussein Obama is not ‘Merican!

Well, except for the fact that his birth certificate is posted on numerous websites and available to see. The case for the continued skeptics seems to be the fact that there is no state seal on the document (its on the back) and the fact that some information has been blacked out! Its the form’s certificate number which is always redacted to “prevent people from breaking into the system” claims the official.

Not good enough for some people. (Whatever.)

Now, as you may or may not be aware, today is Sunday. And like any good Liberal, I have my Sunday NY Times home delivered. And, like any good Liberal, I dig through and refer to the Arts and Leisure section first and foremost. So imagine my amusement and delight when I found this article, titled "Is This the Most Trusted Man in America?". Follow the link to see who it is, and enjoy this alongside me.

Well, we shall end this weeks wrap-up in the world of news, with some kulture:

Get some aspirin for your hangover headache, grab some coffee and enjoy one of my favorites from the 50's:
