Twenty-four hours ago, there was no end in sight. Funny thing, though. I was out and about yesterday, so I was unable to follow the developments. I had heard along with everyone else that LaGuardia was experiencing delays due to a shortage of air-traffic controllers. Ripple effects were starting to spread up and down the East Coast.

But like magic, the logjam disappeared and votes were taken to get the government open.

Oh, it's brief, and I'm sure we'll be shut down again when the agreement expires on February 14.

But who flinched? I did hear some of the pressers afterwards; Speaker Pelosi was gloating without actually gloating, and the current occupant of the White House was his usual tantrum-y self.

Speculation has been rife; it sounds most likely to me that the Occupant was embarrassed by not being able to give a State of the Union speech. Coupled with the pending collapse of the air travel industry, this was probably enough to reach a tipping point.

We'll do it all again in three weeks.
