No Honor Among Thieves

There is news this morning that Queen Elizabeth is very ill. Her family is returning to her estate in Balmoral to be at her side. I am not a royal gazer, but knowing that she has been there my entire life, which began only 30 years after ascendence is mind-boggling.

That said it's only been 7 years since TFG descended down a faux gold escalator and he's wreaked absolute havoc on our nation ever since. It was just Tuesday when we found out that among the hundreds of documents found at Mara-A-Lago (MAL) was information on foreign nation's nuclear capability. We don't know if it was one or more.
The publication cited “people familiar with the search,” who spoke on the condition of anonymity. “Only the president, some members of his Cabinet or a near-Cabinet-level official could authorize other government officials to know details of these special-access programs,” the source said, revealing that special clearances are required to obtain such documents, and “not just top-secret clearance.” Which foreign government’s nuclear secrets may have been exposed is unclear, and the source did not provide details surrounding where in Mar-a-Lago it was found, but U.S. intelligence officials are now scrambling with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence “conducting a risk assessment” to determine the damage done by the removal of such classified material. After a previous report by The Post suggesting the FBI was searching for nuclear weapons-related material, Trump replied on social media: “Nuclear weapons issue is a Hoax, just like Russia.”
This was a big get for WaPo. What I would like to know is who tipped the journalists off.

At first I thought it was the DoJ sending a shot across the bow but then I reminded myself that they wouldn't be so open about such classified -- HIGHLY -- information. Someone on the inside may be talking. I was reminded of an article, written in 2017, explaining how to read investigative news stories.
In the laudable cases, they do it so they can bring the public important information that they couldn’t report using only named sources. Reporting on an investigation like the Trump-Russia matter would dry up without anonymous sources for the simple reason that many more people are willing to help get news out there than are willing to do so openly—for reasons both attractive and unattractive, some noble and in the public interest, and sometimes backstabbing and serving individual agendas. So when she’s doing her job well, a good reporter has to juggle competing goals when confronted with a hot piece of news, the sources of which refuse to be publicly named.
There is no question in my mind that a person or people want eyes on this story, and I suspect there is not a noble agenda among them. More than one person helped steal all of these documents and if you have followed all the scandals dealing with our national security, you know this is no easy feat. It had to be a coordinated inside job, one that was done because there was an illegal benefit to be had.

This is still only the tip of the iceberg, friends. The global intelligence community is watching, and quite honestly, some of the nuclear countries have extradition policies. Someone is cooperating, others are leaking and others are still criming. These are dishonorable, treasonous people who have no honor.

It is far past time to see some indictments and people going to jail. In other words, lock them up.
