Shocked? They STILL aren't.

Two Months ago everyone was up in arms because a DHS Report said that law enforcement in America needed to be more acutely aware of right wing extremism in America. Specifically, the report mentioned anti-semites, lone wolves, white supremacists, etc. The conservatives in America were apoplectic. What happened as a result? DHS aquiessed to the outrage. They apologized, and - on the outset - appeared to alter the leaked report.

That said - for the second time in 2 weeks we find that the damn report was correct. This time it was a white supremacist hate-filled racist who murdered Stephen Tyrone Johns, a security Guard at the Holocaust Museum.

It's easy to forget that just 2 short months ago, radio host Michael Savage even went so far as to sue the Department of Homeland Security over this report. Republicans took umbrage, claiming the report was Anti-Republican. From the Mouth of Michael Steele, on the Sean Hannity Show, came these words:
This is the height of insult here. I'm sorry, Sean. I just want to jump on this so badly because this is so — talk about arrogance. Talk about insult. I mean to segment out Americans who dissent from this administration, to segment out conservatives in this country who have a different philosophy or view from this administration, and labeling them as terrorists and then to call into question the service of the men and women who are right now standing on that wall defending our freedom and linking them to terrorism while you refuse to call the terrorists — the real terrorists — terrorists, to me it's the height of insult, and you know, you know, the president and Napolitano, with these half-hearted apologies, to American citizens versus these full throated apologies to the rest of the world, to me is embarrassing.
Also of note, during this same week we had teabagging parties all across America. Who can forget the Tea parties? These are the people the Republican party is defending. Seriously. Even more sadly, with the events of the past few weeks, the mouthpieces for this extra crispy type of crazy are not letting up. Glenn Beck is out there actually telling people to not kill the messenger and that there will be more incidents like this. I kid you not - he's been doing it for a while. Yesterday, he went over the top.
This afternoon Glenn Beck and two of his guests argued that Adolph Hitler and the Nazi Party were "leftwing"; that "political correctness" led the committed white supramacist, James Von Brunn, to shoot a security guard at the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC; and that ultimately President Barack Obama is the one responsible for the violence because his "bailouts" and "Socialistic" policies are engendering widespread anger. Beck denounced those who claim he is "churning the pot" because, he says, "the pot is already boiling." Seeing this spectacle with subtitles at the gym today led me to wonder if there are any laws on the books against using the public airwaves to incite violence. Because that is clearly what Beck is doing. I only caught about ten minutes of the show (about all I can stand) and it was a white reactionary tour de force -- incendiary, stupid, and racist.
I will not link to his site; you can google it on your own. In Beck's world, we are the haters, the racists, and the fear-mongers. Glenn Beck says that I am the hateful one. I, however, am not the one out there justifying murder.

They are ratcheting up this environment of fear and hatred, toward our administration, towards abortion rights activists, towards women, towards Blacks, towards Hispanics, towards Jews, towards Muslims, towards liberals -- towards anyone who isn't a white conservative it seems. We've written about this on the blog before.

When a man is killed at a museum that is a memorial to remind people of the horrors of hate-crimes, we have a problem. When radio hosts defend murder we have an even bigger problem. Domestic Terrorism is alive and well in America. I wish that the right wing could understand that. Instead, it appears they support it.

Things are getting dangerous out there. That DHS report was correct. There ARE those who would undermine this great nation and make it less secure by justifying their own violent agenda by whatever means necessary. They would seek to create terror in the hearts and minds of those they find disagreements with. I have said it before, and I will say it again, it is Domestic Terror. Those that are complicit in fanning the flames of hatred regarding this terror must stop denying culpability. Words matter.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Johns, you saved a lot of people lives yesterday. For that I would like to Thank you. I am sorry that hate killed you.

:peace: and
Raine
