The Proof is in the Grinder

Bob Woodward hired Howard Kurtz at The Washington Post, then the Metro editor, in 1981. He went on to Host Reliable Sources at CNN. From his CNN Bio:
Howard Kurtz is the host of the weekly CNN program Reliable Sources, which turns a critical lens on the media. Kurtz leads the scrutinizing of the media's fairness and objectivity by questioning journalists of top news organizations, including those at CNN.

Kurtz is formerly Washington bureau chief of Newsweek and The Daily Beast. Prior to joining Newsweek/The Daily Beast, Kurtz was the longtime media reporter for The Washington Post, where he wrote a regular column called Media Notes. He joined the newspaper in 1981, after the demise of The Washington Star, and covered urban affairs, the Justice Department and Capitol Hill. He also served as The Washington Post's New York bureau chief. He has covered the media since 1990.
He currently works at another cable channel called Fox "News" and hosts a Sunday show called Media Buzz.

I have never watched his Sunday morning show, to be transparent. I assume it’s one that kinda sorta has to do with his other gigs at WaPo and CNN: scrutinizing the media. He’s not an evening propagandist. He’s Howard Kurtz.

Yesterday on his show, he said this:
“Some of you have been asking why I’m not covering the Dominion Voting Machines lawsuit against Fox involving the unproven claims of election fraud in 2020, and it’s absolutely a fair question,” Kurtz said Sunday on “Mediabuzz.”

“I believe I should be covering it. It’s a major media story, given my role here at Fox. But the company has decided that as part of the organization being sued, I can’t talk about it or write about it, at least for now. I strongly disagree with that decision, but as an employee, I have to abide by it. And if that changes, I’ll let you know.”

The next sentence in the article is funny: Fox News, whose hosts routinely rail against censorship, did not immediately return a request for comment on the matter.

I'll remind you that earlier this month, Dominion released a trove of text from many of the evening hosts. In them, it was revealed that they knew the election wasn't stolen. They were more concerned about losing viewers to other right-wing outlets like Newsmax. At the time, Fox issued a statement:
In a statement, a Fox spokesperson said: “There will be a lot of noise and confusion generated by Dominion and their opportunistic private equity owners, but the core of this case remains about freedom of the press and freedom of speech, which are fundamental rights afforded by the Constitution and protected by New York Times v. Sullivan.”
He just said on air that he's being censored by his employers, while his employers allowed other employees to lie to the public under the guise of freedom of speech and press. I can't help but wonder what other topics he is not allowed to cover.

Not that we needed it, but this is more proof that Fox "News" is not a journalistic enterprise; It is a political one. Like him or not, this is what happens when you sell your soul to spew propaganda. You get thrown into the meat grinder just like those who consume it.
