TACO Tuesday
Author: BobR    Date: 04/08/2026 12:52:27

I am posting this Wednesday morning, so that must mean that Orange Maniac's Easter Sunday threat to wipe out the entirety of Iran didn't come to fruition. This is something we've seen again and again from this maladministration - make a threat, and then back down.

The fact that this happened on a Tuesday makes the moniker "TACO" even better.

Supposedly, there is now a 2-week ceasefire in place:
President Trump announced on social media late Tuesday that he had accepted a two-week ceasefire with Iran just hours before his threatened deadline for launching crippling attacks on the country’s civilian infrastructure.

“The reason for doing so is that we have already met and exceeded all Military objectives, and are very far along with a definitive Agreement concerning Longterm PEACE with Iran, and PEACE in the Middle East,” Trump wrote. “We received a 10 point proposal from Iran, and believe it is a workable basis on which to negotiate.”

Iran’s foreign minister confirmed in a statement that the Iranians would “cease their defensive operation” and that “for a period of two weeks, safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be possible.”

Was it a "deal"? Was it someone whispering in his ear to remind him that targeting "civilian infrastructure" is a war crime?

OR - perhaps they're just manipulating the market to cash in on insider trading information:
US stock futures surged on Wednesday, while oil prices cratered amid relief after the US and Iran agreed to a two-week ceasefire that could lead to a reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to shipping.

S&P 500 futures (ES=F) leapt 2.7%, while those on the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 (NQ=F) rocketed up 3.5%. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures (YM=F) jumped 2.5%, or over 1,000 points.

Global markets across the board are seeing a return of risk appetite after President Trump called for a two-week suspension in hostilities in return for Tehran lifting its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

This is definitely something the SEC should investigate. With the SEC being part of the Executive branch, however, that probably won't happen until Pedo McYamTits is out of office. Maybe after the midterms, the new Democratically-controlled Congress can open an investigation.
