Considering I'm still trying to readjust to Real Life after the last few days of Christmas, I thought perhaps I should ease the blog back in with a post-Christmas wrap up...
First: Some good news... Bethlehem hosts cheerful Christmas:

Sadly, it was not all good news yesterday. Religious craziness still creates problems in the world, sometimes in the most unlikely places and from the most unlikely people. In India, Hindus attacked churches on Christmas:

First: Some good news... Bethlehem hosts cheerful Christmas:
BETHLEHEM, West Bank - Gloom was banished from Christmas celebrations in Bethlehem for the first time in years on Monday as Christian pilgrims from all over the world flocked here to celebrate Jesus' birth in an atmosphere of renewed tranquility.
After Israeli-Palestinian fighting erupted in 2000, nearly all of the people milling around Manger Square in the center of this biblical town on Christmas had been local Palestinians. But this year, city hotels were packed with tourists.
Tiago Martins, 28, from Curitiba, Brazil, said he was visiting Jesus' traditional birthplace for the first time after new peace talks between Israelis and Palestinians reassured him he'd be safe.

The holidays have a way of turning simple sadness into tragedy, chance encounters into magic, and mere good luck into a miracle. That was the case on Christmas Eve in Elmhurst, Queens, when a cab driver called 911 to report that his passenger was giving birth and he did not know the way to the nearest hospital.
One of the first people to reach the scene was Police Officer Ivy Dror, a certified emergency medical technician. Not only did Officer Dror, 23, help deliver a healthy baby girl, she handed a Polaroid camera to the cab driver and asked him to document the baby's first minutes.

NEW DELHI - Hindu extremists attacked Christians celebrating Christmas in eastern India, ransacking and burning at least six village churches, officials said Wednesday. One person was killed in the violence.
Authorities in the remote district where the churches were attacked have deployed 450 police to quell the violence, which had tapered off by Wednesday, said Bahugrahi Mahapatra, a government official.

DALLAS, Texas (CNN) -- If you turn to the Bible -- Isaiah Chapter 35, Verse 8 -- you will see a passage that in part says, "A highway shall be there, and a road, and it shall be called the Highway of Holiness."
Now, is it possible that this "highway" mentioned in Chapter 35 is actually Interstate 35 that runs through six U.S. states, from southern Texas to northern Minnesota? Some Christians have faith that is indeed the case.
It was with that interesting belief in mind that we decided to head to Texas, the southernmost state in the I-35 corridor, to do a story about a prayer campaign called "Light the Highway."
Churchgoers in all six states recently finished 35 days of praying alongside Interstate 35, but the prayers are still continuing.
Some of the faithful believe that in order to fulfill the prophecy of I-35 being the "holy" highway, it needs some intensive prayer first...
Isaiah-35, I-35... get it?

Morning, folks.
Sorry for the confusion yesterday. Even though I'm not a freemartin, I still take my Malthusian Drills very seriously. I'll open a blog on Tuesday whether or not I need to.
Snippets of TriSec's Christmas:
Javi is happy, although we had a brief meltdown at bedtime last night, as all his toys hadn't been played with yet and he wanted to touch them all.
At no point in time did any liquid not containing alcohol pass my lips yesterday.
Brother TriSec and his new lady hosted yesterday; we had a house full of screaming babies (literally) and assorted family and friends...it was nice enough to fire up the grill so we had a mountain of seared animal flesh yesterday. Considering the years of agita with his ex-wife, yesterday was remarkably trouble-free.
Even the former Mama and Papa TriSec (divorced for over 2 decades now) were civil to each other, so all is well.
The mines beckon, but I should be in and out of here all day. I have a bunch of podcasts to catch up on (I don't normally listen to whoever is babysitting for Momma). What is everyone listening to today, anyway?
Oh, and I have 500mg of Ibuprofen in me...I somehow managed to pull all the muscles on my side yesterday, whether from carrying things, wrestling with my brother's dogs, playing street hockey with Javi's cousin, or something else entirely is yet to be determined...

Think I've loveed video game since I got my Intellivision (which I still have), I highly recommend the Wii, they sell it wit a sports game that is very addicting. When I was out this morning at target I picked up Mario/SOnic Olympics to expand on the sports.
I was very touched at how I got it. My mom had been looking and couldn't get her hands one. My aunt (the loveable grumby one not the crazy religious yet loveable one) found out that a Target near her had some, and got a teenager that was standing in line next to her so she could get one for me and one for the cousins. This all happened the weekend we had the trenchal rain that was suppose to be a nor'easter.

'tis Galliano, a fine Italian Liquer made from a plethora of spices, not the least of which is star anise. I'd have to describe it as an acquired taste; it's definitely unusual to the point where I can't describe it, and it looks like nothing more than a shot glass full of piss, actually.

Morning all. Late start for me as I had to deal with a few Christmas fires.......literally. I am on call this month for ARC and we always have house fires on Christmas eve/day. Had to do some follow-up from the evenings fires.
I made out well, despite our promise of "no gifts". Wife made me a beautiful necklace. And she's already regretting the Rubiks "Revolution" cube she got me! Hee Hee.........its electronic and quite loud and annoying with flashing lights. Great for playing in bed at night. Won't be long before she hides it!

The Republican Party. Bringing us back to the Victorian Era. Gee, how about Progressive Income Taxes so that those who can afford it bare most of the burden.
I remember Newsday pointing out a few years ago when looking at the property taxes how middle and working class communities paid a higher percentage in property taxes than those who lived in wealthy communities.

There's a handful of Tim's around Fall River and a few up towards Portland, ME...but nothing local.

I'm not listening right now. He could be, though. He usually doesn't take the time off the other hosts due.
For those who listen later on, Mike Malloy should be on the rest of this week too.
My guess is Randi will be back on January 2nd.

I remember that too. When Stacy Taylor became the fill-in host, he didn't want to do it. I guess we don't get Stacy Taylor as fill-in due to the folding of the San Diego station. Today, Maker's Mark is owned by Lincolnshire, Illinois-based Fortune Brands, which acquired it from distillery giant UK-based Allied Domecq in 2005 (as well as Courvoisier cognac, Sauza tequila, Canadian Club whisky, Laphroaig single-malt Scotch and Clos du Bois wines) in a joint bid with French rival Pernod Ricard.
