Brit? Paris? Nope... this time it's Nashua!
Author: Raine    Date: 01/07/2008 13:47:26

The latest tabloid journalistic scuffle was not Brit or Lindsey or Paris, but rather involving Barack Obama. As reported yesterday:
But it was after Obama's speech that O'Reilly threw some elbows. And not so figuratively either.

Obama staffer Marvin Nicholson, a personal aide always at Obama's side during rope line handshakes, said O'Reilly yelled at him to get out of the way of his cameraman's shot. Nicholson said O'Reilly came around the waist-high barricade separating Obama from well-wishers.

"Then he grabbed me with both of his arms and tried to push me out of the way," Nicholson said after the campaign agreed to make him available to reporters.

O'Reilly, interviewed afterward by phone on Fox News, said he tried "to gently remove" Nicholson because he was standing in front of Fox's camera.

"We're sorry we had to have that little confrontation, but no one on this earth is going to block a shot on "The O'Reilly Factor." It is not going to happen," O'Reilly said.

Now I may be snarkily calling Billo a tabloid journalist, but this man is on a news network, he considers himself to be a journalist. He has an audience, albeit a shrinking one, but an audience nonetheless. I am used to seeing this behavior from the paparazzi, and places like OK! magazine, but this just goes too far.

And it begs a bigger question, what nation is this that allows journalists to physically confront presidential campaign staffers? According to Raw Story,
'O'Reilly insists that there was no scuffle, only a "removal" of a man that was blocking his shot. As for reports of profanity, O'Reilly says he may have called his target an "S.O.B." but nothing more. He also denies being "restrained" by two Secret Service agents, reported to have flanked him and escorted him away.

"Ten seconds after I gently removed the man from in front of our camera," he says, "I actually spoke to Barack Obama."

"The Secret Service guys led me right by, and we had a nice little chat, which you'll hear on the Factor Monday night."

So he is going to report on himself the nature of this assault? Perhaps Bill can explain this:

I am sure more video will surface, but you can hear O' Reilly call the staffer an SOB about 10 seconds into the video.

Regular people have been arrested and taken away from events for lesser things than this. Why is O'Reilly allowed to report on this when it was a breach of security from something we once called the 4th Estate? We talk a good game about security and safety in this country, when it comes to you and me, but suddenly because one man wants a camera shot, he thinks being physical is acceptable. That is a goon, in my eyes, and a goon with a platform is dangerous.

I hope this is an anomoly and not more of things to come. People like Bill O'Reilly have been fanning the flames of hatred against the Democratic party for so long, I worry about our candidates... not just Barack, but all of them.

Happy Monday - Momma & the Mooks™ are back!

:peace: and
Raine

BBC:

The speedboats came within about 200m of the US vessels, a Pentagon official told the French news agency AFP.

"I am coming at you. You will explode in a couple of minutes," the Iranians said in a radio transmission, according to the officials.

The Iranian craft turned away "literally at the very moment that US forces were preparing to open fire", the Associated Press reported, also citing an unnamed Pentagon official.

Yeah, sure. Did the Japanese announce their attack on Pearl? Did the Germans let the Americans know that Watch on the Rhine was about to kick off?

No, you don't call up your target and say "look at me!!!" except under false pretenses.

Of course since this was in a war zone with only US Navy vessels around, who are we to argue, right?

it is totally suspicious. If I can get one in, I will be bringing a digital Voice recorder. The man has been a registered voter since he moved to Georgia in 1979. There was no problem when he moved into the city proper, and no problem voting last year. the only thing that has changed was our address, which actually made us closer to the polling place.

The thing at the BOE didn't end up being a fight. But rahter, according to them, because we moved, we needed to reregister. That stills sounds very sketchy to me. Especialy when you go to the Secretary of state websitewhich says:
If you move within the same county in which you are registered to vote and don't notify the registrar at least 30 days prior to an election, you may vote in your old polling place for that election. You must file a notice of your new address. This can be done by writing your county board of registrars' office, or by submitting a new voter registration application.
So according to that we both should have remained registered democrats... we both were put on an inactive list, adn would not have been able to vote had we not gone down to the office. The really freaky thing is that I never got a memo like Bob did. I actually got a letter from the Secretary of state at my NEW ADDRESS to inform me that I needed to get a photo ID since I do not have a georgia license. I almost got the photo ID and it wqas a fluke that the PHOTOGRAPHER said I wasn't a registered voter. The lady who vetted the process seemed to have missed that. They were all very nice about it. I think it is the system that is toally F8cked up. ****PLUS**** they are saying that our polling place is in a different area than it used to be. I am trying to find out of they are correct in this situation. I think they may be wrong...

I still hold serious hope for Edwards.

Iseriously have.

We tore apart the entire apartment this weekend with the exception of flipping thru EVERY book in our library.

And that is a lot of books.

I went thru my art studio 5 or 6 times. I am truly bummed about this.

Checked both freezers and fridges, the junk draws ( na few times) tore apart the *storage closet*

The only thng I can think is the books and the clothes drawers. MY clothes. Something ain;t right.

How can somethign I values for 39 years go missing?

I really need this... I need to get my passport... ;cry: it has been a very very bad week.
