In Case you Miss it...

Today's Doonesbury may not be running in your local paper today, as it is considered too far past the line of good taste for some editorial boards. In the age of the internets, I find this funny, sad and futile. I am posting it here.
From the Seattle Times:
You see, for some -- printing this is more offensive than women being forced to endure an transvaginal ultrasound for having a legal medical procedure.
Just to put this in contrast, Doonesbury has another character, B.D.: Please note, that while there are other instances of Trudeau's strips being pulled. This storyline does not appear to be one of them. Women having abortions are offensive; a soldier having his leg blown off seems not so offensive to the delicate minds of some of its readers. Herein lies the inconsistencies of some newspaper editorial boards around our nation.
In the meantime, I am sure that by not printing the comic -- more attention will be paid to said storyline. We live in interesting times.

Still, the series just released, which features a woman seeking an abortion being forced to undergo a transvaginal ultrasound procedure — a reference to a new law in Texas — has caused unease among some newspaper editors around the country.
Those who have rejected the strip say its graphic language and imagery could offend readers. For example: one strip calls the vaginal device a "10 inch shaming wand" and refers to the compulsory procedure as "rape."
You see, for some -- printing this is more offensive than women being forced to endure an transvaginal ultrasound for having a legal medical procedure.
Just to put this in contrast, Doonesbury has another character, B.D.:
The helmet finally came off on April 21, 2004 when, while serving in Iraq, B.D. lost a leg; his reaction to its loss was a loud, anguished, "Son of a bitch!", which caused the strip to be pulled from some newspapers. His friend and fellow soldier Ray Hightower got him airlifted to safety in time, and he survives as an amputee. He has successfully gone through physical therapy and can walk with the aid of a high-tech prosthetic "C-Leg". His only reflection on losing the helmet was on July 31, 2004, when he thought to himself, "Oh yeah, my helmet. What the hell was THAT all about?"
Although he was physically in good condition, his mental state deteriorated since returning home. B.D. began drinking too much, suffered from nightmares and became highly irritable. Realizing the seriousness of his problems, he entered therapy in January 2006. B.D. shows great reluctance or even fear about discussing his Iraq service with the counselor. This is revealed to stem from guilt over an incident wherein he ordered the driver of his HMMWV to drive through a crowd in order to escape an ambush of the Iraqi insurgency.
In the meantime, I am sure that by not printing the comic -- more attention will be paid to said storyline. We live in interesting times.

A friend of mine jokingly made a small edit to this strip to make it more "thematic".. he suggested changing "pregnancy termination" to "infanticide" ..... or just change that entire sentence to "Is this the first time you've ended an innocent life to enable your sex addiction?"
This weekend was fantastic btw! Mom was zooming all around the house (well not quite zooming, but a lot more mobile and pain-free).

Good day, everyone. I wonder if Ed pushed the time change to give himself exclusivity in the noon slot since Dial Global syndicates both Ed and Thom. Stations which previously delayed Thom like SiriusXM, WWRL, and WCPT in Chicago will now be airing the show live and of course that now means in the car I have to choose between Thom or Randi unless I decide to listen to WWRL's delayed airing of Randi at 6 PM which only works as daylight gets longer and the signal doesn't crap out as it does at night (WWRL can't even be received in Staten Island at night). It was easiest for AM1090 in Seattle which just flipped Ed and Thom. Strangely enough, Ed today has a fill-in host.

Free Speech TV today moved Thom to 3 PM as well which allowed them to re-instate the Noon airing of Democracy Now! which was pulled when they started carrying all 3 hours of Thom.

How about we give some of these people undeveloped federal land? (I hear we have a lot out west...) Ron Paul wants to see it sold off, but I say we donate it parcel by parcel. Let them start their own country all on their own. Let the South rise again -- without the benefits that they have been given since the founding of this nation.
One of my biggest beefs with Succession is that this nation was built TOGETHER. I am not an advocate of people taking away things like roads and rail-- and telephone lines and electric etc. -- things that were built from support from the FEDERAL government of the united states -- from all the people who don't want to leave.
If they want to leave, fine. Let's give them a place to succeed to. With NO standing army. no national guard. NO FEMA. No Medicare, medicaid or social security.
Hell, I'd even be willing to give them a moving stipend, in return for their citizenship and the money they already paid into Social security.

The RT show "The Big Picture" is a separate show. Free Speech TV simulcasts the radio show from 3-6 and the RT show from 9-10 PM (and repeats it at 1 AM), since you get RT off one of the sub-channels in the DC market, you can see the RT show direct from the source.

The RT show "The Big Picture" is a separate show. Free Speech TV simulcasts the radio show from 3-6 and the RT show from 9-10 PM (and repeats it at 1 AM), since you get RT off one of the sub-channels in the DC market, you can see the RT show direct from the source.

I know I get RT. I am not a real big fan of the channel, overall, to be honest. but that is neither here nor there -- I thought it was a broadcast of his radio show, Like FSTV. I was mistaken.
I do think that Shultz has a lot more production etc going into his TV show, and that does take a lot of time.
Dial is in competition with CC. they made the moves that work best for them. it sucks imo. Ed is National, Thom isn't -- not of the likes of MSNBC. That isn't a knock on Thom. I just am not ready to assume that this was all Ed's doing. Thom against Randi is a lot more competitive if you think about it.

It seems like most active liberals prefer listening to Thom and Randi and are not necessarily fans of Ed. I was talking with Gotta Laff on Twitter who feels the same way of having to choose between the shows at 3 PM. Although at the old time, I could watch Thom on Free Speech TV or listen online. In the car, I had to settle for Ed which doesn't change.
RT's US distribution is minimal. Time Warner does carry it in NYC but aside from that and the MHz aub-channels in the DC area, although it was recently added to Dish Network channel 280. Free Speech TV is on both DirecTV and Dish Network and aside from Burlington Telecom in Vermont, I think what little other cable distribution it has is via public access channel cherry-picking of shows like Democracy Now! or the Thom Hartmann radio simulcast.

Mom brought up an interesting point.. if the portrayal of Palin was accurate down to her mannerisms, attitude and quickly-changing emotional state, could it be possible that she was suffering from severe post-partum depression during the campaign?
