When the 111th Congress convenes on Tuesday, Norm Coleman may be out of an office, even though his Senate race remains far from settled.
Coleman’s first term officially expires at noon on Saturday, and he is locked in one of the closest Senate races in history, with Democrat Al Franken clinging to a 49-vote lead out of nearly 3 million votes cast.
Since he has not been certified a winner in the race, Coleman may have to give up his privileges as a senator, including his desk on the floor, his personal office and his right to vote on legislation, according to Democratic aides familiar with the rules.
Section 5. Each House shall be the judge of the elections, returns and qualifications of its own members, and a majority of each shall constitute a quorum to do business; but a smaller number may adjourn from day to day, and may be authorized to compel the attendance of absent members, in such manner, and under such penalties as each House may provide.
Each House may determine the rules of its proceedings, punish its members for disorderly behavior, and, with the concurrence of two thirds, expel a member.
Each House shall keep a journal of its proceedings, and from time to time publish the same, excepting such parts as may in their judgment require secrecy; and the yeas and nays of the members of either House on any question shall, at the desire of one fifth of those present, be entered on the journal.
Neither House, during the session of Congress, shall, without the consent of the other, adjourn for more than three days, nor to any other place than that in which the two Houses shall be sitting.

Israel rains fire on Gaza with phosphorus shells
Israel is believed to be using controversial white phosphorus shells to screen its assault on the heavily populated Gaza Strip yesterday. The weapon, used by British and US forces in Iraq, can cause horrific burns but is not illegal if used as a smokescreen.

There's ALWAYS something to worry about. Worrying about money won't solve the problem. Instead, try to focus on the good news and keep your spirits up.

Not to be harsh, but it might be that he doesn't want a relationship if he chooses not to share his personal life. He's being polite, but not getting too personal.

Once a year, we make a foray into the cartoonish world of "As seen on TV". It's at the Topsfield Fair in the so-called "professional building".
Seeing it on TV is one thing, but being in a room full of these guys as they make their presentations is quite a show. Plus you actually get to handle the merchandise before buying. Some of it actually works, but most of it is incredibly cheap.
We usually do buy a trinket or two, just to make the day complete. (And they always have "Just for the Fair!" special deals, too...)
Anyway, I digress.

Lull now
By Haaretz Editorial

French President Nicolas Sarkozy's visit to Jerusalem today provides Israel with an exit ramp from the fighting against Hamas in Gaza. Sarkozy proposes declaring a lull in combat, which would test whether Hamas would agree to halt firing rockets. Israel would do well to respond affirmatively to the proposal, which protects its right to respond with force in the event the Palestinians continue firing from the Gaza Strip.
The lull would also be a good opportunity to halt the ground operation and pull back the Israel Defense Forces to Israel proper. In its decision to deploy ground troops in the operation, Israel showed that it is not deterred from assuming risks to defend its citizens, and it proved that its army is not afraid of engaging "armed" Palestinians in combat. But it is difficult to understand the purpose of prolonging the ground operation, which is liable to end in a difficult entanglement and casualties.

My hope is that there will be an effort to end the current conflict - but it will take courage, insight, and humility from all sides in the conflict to build a lasting peace.
It is vital to preserve these goals and not get dragged into a futile pursuit of Hamas in an effort to topple its regime. Experience teaches that expanding the set of objectives complicates achieving them, turning a lightning-quick operation into a long war of attrition. The government and IDF succeeded in mustering domestic and international legitimacy to an extensive military operation against the rocket fire, and it would be a pity to risk that legitimacy if the fighting drags on "until Hamas waves a white flag."

You know, when I was trying to get into college, I found that I had no money, no prospects etc. my paretns were going thru a really bad divorce... blah blah... anyway...
I was going to go to college come hell or high water. I wanted to be a fashion designer, I wanteeed to make art. The Army had a program that PAID for college!
So I called... they asked me what I wanted to go to college for... I told them fashion design and illustration... they promptly told me that they really didn't have a need to redesign the Army uniform and wished me the best of luck in my college journey.
YEs, the Army rejected me!
Moreover, if the links have been distant from each other and if obstacles, placed by those who are the lackeys of Zionism in the way of the fighters obstructed the continuation of the struggle, the Islamic Resistance Movement aspires to the realisation of Allah's promise, no matter how long that should take. The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him salvation, has said:
"The Day of Judgement will not come about until Moslems fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Moslems, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Only the Gharkad tree, (evidently a certain kind of tree) would not do that because it is one of the trees of the Jews." (related by al-Bukhari and Moslem).
