So is the vote today? Word has it that President Barack Obama's recovery plan is on track for final votes in the House and Senate. I hope so. I truly do. It's been a dizzying week (month, actually). Here are some of the benefits and who gets them in this version of the bill: There is more at this link from the AP. I am sure as the day goes on we will find new details. I like reading things like '$47 billion in state fiscal relief to prevent cuts in state aid to school districts, with great flexibility to use the funds for school modernization and repair; $25 billion to school districts to fund special education and the No Child Left Behind law for students in K-12; $17 billion to boost the maximum Pell Grant by $500 to $5,350; $2 billion for Head Start.' Someone is finally thinking of the children!
Some of the provisions will be liked, some won't. At this point, I don't care. Whatever isn't in the jobs and recovery package can be addressed in the Annual Budget which - incidentally - we have not gotten to. With so many people losing their jobs, and the fear of losing gainful employment, this stimulus bill had to happen, simply to inject money into people's wallets and give them confidence back. When one person loses a job, they stop spending money. When that person stops spending money at businesses and for services they would normally use, those companies stop taking in money... thus the people working at these businesses people have less money and confidence. Suddenly that business shuts down, and now more people are out of work.
Now multiply that by all the jobs lost this year. It is a true downward cycle that we are in and the "Tax Cuts Only" meme wasn't going to to help. If the past 12 years have proven us correct, it would have only hurt us more. There comes a point when you can't treat a cold with rest and sleep. The thing is you have to realize you have a cold and treat it, and the previous administration did not do that. At this point, America doesn't have a cold, she has pnuemonia. America needs money and needs it now.
We also need new jobs, and a return of our old jobs. I hope companies take the cue from the CEO of Caterpillar This is the kind of confidence we need to see again. People need to know that their jobs are still here in America and that companies WANT to keep their workers.
It is frustrating me to no end that our President and Congress were put in this position in the first place. This was not what Barack Obama was thinking about when he spoke of hope and change. This stimulus package was not part of his campaign platform. That said, I am grateful that we have a president who is actually able to adjust "as the facts on the ground" change.
Now let's get a HHS nominee going, let's get our Labor Secretary nominated so we can get America OUT of it's sick bed and back to work!

First-time home-buyers would get a larger tax break. Laid-off workers would receive higher unemployment benefits and new subsidies for heath insurance.
And all but the wealthiest workers would soon get a tax credit worth as much as $800 per couple.

It is, in a psuedo alternate 1985 (when it was first written). Nixon's president. It is an interesting look at what heroes would be like in real life, but...really the story itself is so haphazzard and with all the flashbacks and the story within a story about the pirate doesn't make any sense.
But I'm sure that's because i'm not "Smart" enough to get it.

Good morning everyone. 
What a long night last night. Both the games I did last night went to overtime. We ended up not getting off the air until 2 AM and then after I timed out all the replays and other things I had to do I didn't get out until after 3:30. Hopefully tonight I will get out at midnight and then I am on vacation.

Since I am still waking up, here's the Watchmen entry from Wikipedia. It provides a lot of the detail on why it's highly regarded and also why some of the elements. The pirate comic was supposed to be an example of the kind of comic books that would have sold considering that real-life costumed crime fighters would have probably killed off superhero comics not to mention as a metaphor of the events that were being set in motion in the book.

And Willow is working on her interview with the guy whole plays Doyle. It's a fairly new site but its growing
the RPG section of 9th is open to anyone, take a look around. The one that I'm in (conspieracy theroy) is going to be moving into its own Vol2 (Unintended Consequenses) and the whole things is based on the 5YG epi. but others pick up on different things

all they ask is that everything be kept PG-13 cause kids are on the site too. Got-Heroes.com is another site that has an rpg section but I haven't been there in a while.
One just did a time jump so it's easier to get into - just read the set up page or check in with the OOC pages for that rpg
Steampunk is still on 2 pages so it's really new but I'm helping to get Vol2 of CT going - which if you want to ask Animegoddess you might be able to jump into. She's a good GM but she wants to see writing samples and to make sure someone new doesn't try and take over (that happened once before it nearly blew up the whole section for a little while)

Not sure about the podcast of anything - think they are repeating some of the things to make sure the most people are hearing it. A lot of people miss the 1st hour so they hit the key things in hour 3

Think the main thing you would need is that its based off 5 Years Gone from S1
Anmie runs FuturePeter & Sparrow Redhouse (and various other characters - we are mostly limitied to 4 characters each)
basically it's Peter and the resistance fighing against the Linderman Law and trying to regain civil rights and accecptance for those with abilities. There is NO serum (Anime hates that idea) so everyone is a natural born special.
The big things that have happened is that DC was almost leveled but the people were saved by Peter and his crew.
Right now - part of Peter's group has been kidnapped and are in arean-style fights for the entertainment of some secret societies. My character Zin just died and that's set off Peter to find a way to change history and get them all out of there. So massive reset but we're not going back to the start of the story or anything.
It's so hard to explain - so many little things have happened to create some of these big things

When did CNN Headline News go from being merely crappy to being astoundingly bad and HLN? It seems to be missing white girls 24/7 now.
My next question has to do On Demand. Who is responsible for the uploading to the On Demand server? Is that the cable system or the content provider. I ask because I want to call shenanigans on the right bunch of people. Comcast has the first 12 episodes of The Wire on demand. Missing is episode 13. I know if I call Comcast the pod monkeys would have no clue what I am taking.
