In psychology, psychological projection (or projection bias) is a defense mechanism where a person's personal attributes, unacceptable or unwanted thoughts, and/or emotions are ascribed onto another person or people. In politics, it's called GOP tactics. It's been around for a while, but it is starting to become tiresome in it's psychopathy.

Take Eric Cantor, for example.
House minority whip Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA), on Meet the Press Sunday, tried to set the record straight, saying that his party had a stimulus plan that was ignored by an unfriendly press.

"Republicans will have a plan, we had a stimulus plan. You know, part of the problem with being in the minority, David, is that sometimes your colleagues in the press don't want to cover the ideas that the minority has," said Cantor. "We had a plan on the stimulus, it was tailored to small business tax relief."

Cantor went on to attack Obama's proposed budget, saying it does not focus on job creation and short-term problems. He said by placing new taxes on energy and manufacturers, the budget would amount to a $3,000 tax for a household of four, or "essentially, an $800 man, woman and child tax."

When NBC's David Gregory pressed the Virginia representative on his concern for spending, pointing out that Republicans weren't exactly thrifty during former President Bush's tenure, Cantor acknowledged the GOP "blew it" by not being fiscally conservative.

"But that doesn't give the Democrats in power in this town the right to go in and repeat the mistakes that perhaps we may have committed in the past," Cantor said.
While the party was busy saying no to everything in sight, they failed to present new ideas of their own, and now it is the press' fault for not reporting that they had a plan... it all makes sense right?

It doesn't. Projection is a tool people in denial use to abdicate responsibility. Children are very good at it. Usually tho, as children grow into young adults, a sense of accountability sets in and the tendency to project lessens. With Republicans, it seems like it gets worse. Dana Perino is another example. I bet you didn't know that last weeks market gains should be credited to the previous pResdident.
"You were just speaking earlier about the possibility that since we had a little bit of a better week on Wall Street does that spell a turnaround?" Perino said. "Can all the credit go specifically to President Obama? Well, I would say no. We are just going to have to take a while to let all of this settle down and let the policies that our administration and the new administration are trying to put in place have a chance to work."
Part of being a normal responsible adult means accepting responsibility, and part of being elected a representative in government means actually MAKING responsible choices-- making choices goes a little further than sitting back and accepting.

The biggest example this weekend was from Dick Cheney himself.
Asked by CNN's John King if he believes Obama has made the nation less safe through his reversal of certain Bush administration anti-terror policies, Cheney said bluntly: "I do."


The Republicans -- both elected and formerly serving, instead have chosen to take a path of lies to distort their own reality, and in turn Americans. When one of them actually does speak a truth-- Michael Steele for example (actually I think he may be the solitary example) he is shredded by the very people he is supposed to lead.

It is a difficult thing to defend against projection, because it tends to take the victims of denial down with the deniers. Carl Jung said All projections provoke counter-projection when the object is unconscious of the quality projected upon it by the subject. I believe the leaders in Washington understand what is going on, and I think the people of America are waking up to the reality that republicans are not dealing in reality. They are as Jon Boehner put it... in a hole.
“[W]e don’t have enough votes to legislate,” said Republican leader John A. Boehner of Ohio has said. “We are not in the majority. We are not kind-of in the minority; we are in a hole. They ought to get the idea out of their minds that they are legislators. But what they can be is communicators.”
The result of GOProjection? They the government is broken after making sure that nothing is done, they take the toys and go home, and then blame everyone else. Watch Children, they do the same thing.

Back safe and sound - someone in the ATL almost got a call last night but our plane got delayed so we didn't have to fly out this morning instead. ;)



I think I've conquored my fear of take off's and landings but now I've realized that I am a worrisome travler so that's my next thing to break my habit of.

All the planes out of the ATL were running late yesterday because of the weather so our plane was an hour late from Punta Cana so we thought we missed our connection and we were going to spend the night. Turns out is was delayed also. I did sprint through immigration and customs and securety. Almost took out a family on the people mover when I didn't see the "abrupt stop" and fell up the escalator because I didn't get my shoe on all the way and got hung up on my jeans.



I'm treating it all as a learning experience :D

Since my shoe wasn't all the way on at one point it flew off my foot when I was trying to walk fast and I was trying to keep up with eveyone one shoe on one shoe off.

Oh yeah.. I have something to say about Michael Steele.



Last week he made a very public statement regarding abortion. The reactions in the media and from within his own party were expected - surprise and outrage respectively. In fact, there was so much outrage particularly from a certain drug-addled hot air balloon that Steele then both reserved and discounted his previous statement.



What was not seen was any praise for taking this stand, nor advocacy for him to hold his own position against the neanderthals in his own party. Why was there no show of support from anyone for this position? Why did no pro-choice Republicans, or even elected Democrats or pundits, make a statement encouraging and applauding this? Even if it was negated a few days later, the fact that Steele said such a thing in my opinion goes well beyond the need to be more politically open in order to attract people to his party - it is a sign that changes of view come to the most resistant to such change, even if they come slowly and with great opposition.

I have to say that I thought steele was a breath of fresh air when he said those things...



The problem is, he has come to look so foolish with his apologies that one cannot take him seriously any longer.



Why would the Dems applaud someone who cannot be taken seriously?

I like that Jon Stewart kinda became the voice of us. I think a lot of people have asked those questions - not in such technical terms but we want to know why we didn't get this info faster.



Almost felt like Kramer was gonna cry but I hope he takes alot of what Stewart says to heart. And maybe CNBC gets back to financial REPORTING.

I thought that dude ruined the whole panel discussion.. he was so intellectually vacant, compared to some of the other actually decent conservatives who've been on Real Time, that it made everyone in the studio with him and everyone watching dumber.



I felt much better, albeit a bit light-headed, when Sarah Silverman came out.

The latest: Politico’s Mike Allen reports that “word on the street” is that Norm Coleman will take over as Republican National Committee chair after March fundraising numbers show that Steele has been a bust.



This rumor would seem to give the Dems a fat target. Dems around D.C. want the Democratic National Committee to use the claim that Coleman is supposedly job hunting elsewhere as a hook to renew their efforts to call on Coleman to drop his challenge to Al Franken. As Dem strategist Phil Singer puts it: “Democrats have every incentive to drive this rumor.”



Alas, it just ain’t gonna happen. A Democratic official tells me that the DNC isn’t taking the bait on this one. Says the official: “When the Republicans are forming a circular firing squad, the last thing we’re going to do is step into the middle.”
That would be a smart move... That is fer sure.

Hey folks. Javi is going to be getting off the bus in about 1/2 hour, and I've been informed that I need to give up the computer so he can go to Webkinz for a while.



I just flew my new Connie from Hanscom Field down to Atlantic City, in about an hour and a half. Got up to FL25 for a few minutes, then let down and hand-flew the final; plunked her down right on the numbers.



Best Connie I've flown since Flightsim 98, hands down!

In the letter, Cuomo said he was disturbed to learn over the weekend of AIG’s plans to pay millions of dollars to members of the Financial Products subsidiary through it’s Financial Products Retention Plan.



He sent the letter to Edward Liddy, chairman and CEO of the insurance giant said.
