A Way Out
Author: Raine    Date: 06/05/2025 12:50:51

"Lord, in the memory of all the saints who from their labors rest, and in the joy of a new beginning, we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around … when yellow will be mellow … when the red man can get ahead, man; and when white will embrace what is right; that all those who do justice and love mercy say Amen."
Rev. Joseph Lowery, January 20th 2009 Washington D.C.

Fast forward, 16 years.
Hundreds of the people who were arrested had been enrolled in ICE’s Alternative to Detention (ATD) program, three sources familiar with the arrests said. Under the program, ICE releases undocumented immigrants who are deemed not to be threats to public safety and then keeps track of them through ankle monitors, smartphone apps or other geolocating programs, along with periodic check-ins at ICE facilities.

At least some of the arrests appear to be the result of a new ICE tactic: Immigration attorneys across the country told NBC News that some of their clients on ATD were asked in a mass text message ICE sent out to show up ahead of schedule for check-ins at ICE offices, only to be arrested when they arrived. (snip)

Veronica Navarrete was waiting outside the immigration office for a friend, an asylum-seeker from Ecuador, who had been told to report to the office Wednesday. She told NBC News she had seen immigrants pacing outside the building all day, some of them seeming to her to be contemplating whether to show up for their appointments at all.

“If you enter, there’s a possibility that they’ll take you into custody,” she said. “And if you don’t enter, you’ve missed your appointment, and that’s automatic deportation. We have no way out.”
It's a catch-22 for these people. It's not a stretch to say it's only a matter of time when it comes to your door, your neighbor's door, your friend's door.

Miller recently erupted at ICE officials, demanding 3,000 deportations a day. He's now redeploying thousands of agents from other agencies like Homeland Security Investigations, the FBI, and DEA.

This is already starting to hamper other crime-fighting, per NBC. 2/

16 years is not a long time. We don't have another 16 to make this better. The time is now. Let courage become contagious.

ICE dressed up like utility workers who offer "free estimates" if invited inside. Neighbor recorded the ICE goons and intervened, just before a young boy let them into his home.

Tucson Electric Power was not told ICE agents would be impersonating their utility workers as part of the ICE raid.

And he's still after Harvard, too.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. —
President Donald Trump is moving to block nearly all foreign students from entering the country to attend Harvard University, his latest attempt to choke the Ivy League school from an international pipeline that accounts for a quarter of the student body.

In an executive order signed Wednesday, Trump declared that it would jeopardize national security to allow Harvard to continue hosting foreign students on its campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

“I have determined that the entry of the class of foreign nationals described above is detrimental to the interests of the United States because, in my judgment, Harvard’s conduct has rendered it an unsuitable destination for foreign students and researchers,” Trump wrote in the order.

I have determined
Nobody else; just him.

But somehow, Boston College, Boston University, MIT, Berklee, Bentley, Brandeis and every other one of the 64 colleges in Greater Boston have escaped his notice.

I don't get it at all.

"improperly stored raw meat"

worth noting that this inspection report comes as the Trump administration is aggressively cutting back food safety efforts....(read all about it here: open.substack.com/pub/jennifer...)

The Somerset County Department of Health inspected Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster on May 6, according to the report, which is publicly available online.

The club received a score of 32 out of a 100 possible points, with the inspector documenting 18 violations—nine of which were deemed critical, meaning they “may result in an unacceptable health risk.”

The club was out of compliance with all three requirements in the “food protected from contamination” category, with violations including expired milk, raw meat stored improperly and a dishwasher that may not reach the required temperature (the first two problems were corrected during the inspection).

The inspector also cited four separate hand-washing violations, including sinks without soap or paper towels, one lacking a required sign and another used to store a sanitizer bucket.

The club was issued a “conditionally satisfactory” C grade and required to display a placard with the grade in a visible location.

Spokespeople for the Trump Organization and the Somerset County Health Department did not respond to inquiries.

Their lowest score goes to Trump’s Bedminster Golf Club.

They found expired milk, improperly stored raw meat, and sinks without soap or towels.

It got a C grade (32 out of 100)

Goood. GOOOOOOD!

Pass the MEAT!

and Chicago

This is entrapment—and Dems must stand up against it.

Weds, June 4: Masked ICE operation in Chicago’s South Loop led to the detention of at least 10 immigrants. They were sent text messages to report for check-ins—then ambushed and taken into custody on arrival. A protest broke out in response.
