Observations from the road

Good morning!

Hard to believe that it's already a week since I was last at Disney World.

A stop to see the mouse has been a part of my annual trip to Florida since before Covid. Sometimes solo, sometimes with Maria and Javi. Alas, I was alone this year.

In any case, the main point of the trip is to check in on my aging aunt in Lake Worth, Florida. She is getting older and more ill-tempered with every passing year. I wonder how much longer she will be living in the south at this rate, but I digress.

Naturally, I drove down and back from Boston. I know many people that dread the lengthy drive to get there, but it's part of the trip for me. Fortunately, I am on hiatus until school is back in session in August, so I had some extra time to putter around and see some extra things along the way.

I have a set of observations, which I have posted over on substack; do take a look. Consider this though; tourism is dead. Disney was mostly empty. Normally hot tourist spots in the Palm Beaches were quiet and parking was plentiful. Major trucking was mostly absent from I-95.

But think about this - do you have any idea what the most dangerous vehicle on our roads today is? I do. Think about who is likely driving the next time a legit coach bus, that has been converted into a motor home, passes you by.

Good morning!

Maybe I'll get to observe traffic on a drive in July.

I could have sworn I saw something in FB about the annual BBQ and Beer party being on July 12, but for the life of me I can't find it again.

In any event, my attendance is dependent upon JaykenCat's condition. For now his lymphoma seems to be held in check and he has an appointment with the kitty oncologist in a couple of weeks.

Yes, that date is correct. It should be in Events. I do hope Jayken is healthy enough for you to make the trip.

I am hopeful that whatever anxiety he might have that I'm not there is allieved somewhat by the fact that I'm not there trying to jam a syringe in his mouth.
