Democracy Dies with Billionaires
Author: Raine    Date: 02/05/2026 14:07:50

By now, I'm sure you heard that WaPo laid of about 1/3 of its staff. It got rid of the sports, book and international sections. It also further reduced its Metro staff. It's not good. Forgetting a moment about how the billionaire owner funded a multimillion-dollar piece of shit documentary. Forget that he rented Venice for his wedding. One might ask why? Here's why:

The billionaire class wants to decimate the white collar workforce. Because white collar workers are expensive. And because white collar workers—who historically sided with billionaires—are questioning that alliance. Which makes their knowledge and resources a huge threat to billionaire power.

No one should be a Billionaire, except maybe... maybe Taylor Swift, or the ex-wives of Bill Gates and Bezos. But for the most part, none of them have the ability to say enough is enough. Not anymore. Instead, they are wielding their financial power in politics.

This is not an accident. This is by design. And, like every other time this has happened, it has collapsed.

France going after Elon is a good start. One this side of the pond, he's going to have to sit for a deposition regarding what he did with dismantling USAID with DOGE.

it's a start, but we need more.

The German oligarchs in 1930 learned that fascism was "good" for business, until it wasn't.

This is insane.

Trump: "I didn't get 250. I tried to claim it a couple of times. I said, 'I produced 250 year anniversary. It was my deal. I got 250 years.' And the press hit me hard on that one. So I gave it up immediately ... then they rigged the election."

a response:

I think maybe he’s saying he wanted the 250th anniversary and so said he had it even though he didn’t have it, but now he does have it because “they rigged the election?” That’s about as close to making sense of those words as I can get
