In their new paper, The Olympic Effect, they discover that hosting – or even bidding on — “mega-events” like the Olympics leads to a 30% increase in trade for those countries. Writing on voxeu, Rose says, “Using a variety of trade models, we show that hosting a mega-event like the Olympics has a positive impact on national exports. This effect is statistically robust, permanent, and large – trade is around 30% higher for countries that have hosted the Olympics. Such a huge impact would go a long way toward offsetting the large costs associated with hosting a mega-event.”

Sen. Carper working on a third Senate alternative HCR bill..
But it is not true. Back on July 6th Carper told MSNBC that he was against a national public option that is available on day one. He said he is with Sen. Snowe, and thinks there should be a trigger like the trigger in Medicare Part D. Carper has repeatedly said he supports the trigger idea.

Random so hates being at the ass end of a cold.
Perfectly fine for 98% of the day. other 2 percent is spent in a minute or two coughing fit. and of course that has to happen in the middle of class.

Juvenile who posted that poll on FB won't be charged.
Hopefully this kid got a wake up call and he won't turn out like the other truly juvenile-acting teabagger/birther/tenther idiots twice his age.

Good morning, bloggers! Excellent post, Raine!
As a Chicago native, I think that the President SHOULD support the city's bid for the Olympics. It can generate jobs. Mind you the president will be criticized by the GOP, REGARDLESS of what he does.
So, my advice is to go with a progressive agenda, get results, and wave goodbye to GOP senators and Congress critters after some of them lose in 2010.

This is an on going discussion that my brother and I have. It is the considered opinion of the Brothers Mondo that the average tenther hasn't read the entire Constitution, they focus on solely on the Bill of Rights to the exclusion of the other amendments and they don't understand that the Constitution is an opened ended document that might require change over time.
As John Hodgeman put it, the Constitution of the United States is the FAQ for how America works.

Actually I reported it as a fake page. There's all kinds of ridiculous Tenther bullshit going on there among other things.. Man I'm absolutely fuckin' livid about this.
