Bill Kristol wants Gramps to
"Fire the Campaign". What McCain needs to do is junk the whole thing and start over. Shut down the rapid responses, end the frantic e-mails, bench the spinning surrogates, stop putting up new TV and Internet ads every minute. In fact, pull all the ads — they’re doing no good anyway. Use that money for televised town halls and half-hour addresses in prime time.
And let McCain go back to what he’s been good at in the past — running as a cheerful, open and accessible candidate. Palin should follow suit. The two of them are attractive and competent politicians. They’re happy warriors and good campaigners. Set them free.
That all would be rather amusing except that Bill Kristol (just last week) urged Grampy to go
MORE negative .
Palin had raised the topic of Ayers Saturday on the campaign trail, and she maintained to me that Obama, who’s minimized his relationship with Ayers, “hasn’t been wholly truthful” about this.
I pointed out that Obama surely had a closer connection to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright than to Ayers — and so, I asked, if Ayers is a legitimate issue, what about Reverend Wright?
She didn’t hesitate: “To tell you the truth, Bill, I don’t know why that association isn’t discussed more, because those were appalling things that that pastor had said about our great country, and to have sat in the pews for 20 years and listened to that — with, I don’t know, a sense of condoning it, I guess, because he didn’t get up and leave — to me, that does say something about character. But, you know, I guess that would be a John McCain call on whether he wants to bring that up.”
It isn't just John McCain that is erratic these days, it is the ticket, the party and the entire neo-conservative philosophy. They just don't know what to do.
I suppose firing the entire campaign could be an attention grabber... much like the fake campaign suspension, but really, that wasn't realistic and this obviously isn't either. This smells desperate, and in this time of economic crisis, we really need a little stability.
Just yesterday,
McCain suggesting adopting a new economic plan. *** [Blog update at bottom of page]
"I think it goes along the lines that now is the time to lower tax rates for investors, capital gains tax, dividend tax rates, to make sure that we can get the economy jump-started," said Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.
That's not a new plan. That is John McCain's ORIGINAL plan, the plan he had to deny when he said he was going to be a great 'Regulator'. Besides, if only he would listen to his VP candidate, one would learn that It's not the economy, it's the
ABORTION. “In times like these with wars and financial crisis, I know that it may be easy to forget even as deep and abiding a concern as the right to life, and it seems that our opponent kind of hopes you will forget that,” Palin told a Pennsylvania crowd.
It's not the surrogates, it not the media it's John McCain. And it's all so erratic that He doesn't seem to know what his message is anymore.
Even on Korea, He and Sarah Palin can't agree.
This may be the most poorly coordinated campaign I have ever seen in my life, and this is what you get when you have a bunch of race baiting xenophobic greedy corporate thieves telling you what to do every day. His own party is walking away from him as fast as they can. I don't think Gramps has to fire anyone, they are firing him. (besides puppets can't fire their masters.)
In the mean time... Barack broke more fundraising records in September and is steady and on course to winning the election. That is leadership in the face of crisis.
My suggestion to John McCain, stop trying to win anything and go buy your soul back.
:peace: and

P.S. :
Congratulations to Paul Krugman for winning a Nobel Prize for Economics!!!

Blog update 10:45 am McCain has announced there will be no new economic plan. This is further confirmation of the erractic and unsure nature of John McCain and his campaign.
