Another Bad Week for TFG
Author: BobR    Date: 12/20/2023 13:11:49

We've seen how TFG likes to use the courts to delay, wait out, and frankly force opponents to run out of lawyer money to avoid justice, especially in lawsuits. However, there are a couple cases on the way to the SCOTUS that will have a huge impact, and I am not certain by any means how they will rule.

Currently, Special Counsel Jack Smith has fast-tracked a case asking them to decide the legal immunity claim that TFG is making. SCOTUS will have to decide whether TFG can be held to account for actions taken as president. The rule of law would suggest he should be held accountable.

This decision is an important one, and the Biden administration wins either way. If they decide that TFG can be held accountable, then TFG's claims of immunity evaporate, and the cases move forward. If the court decides that presidents have immunity from the law while in office, then any persecution of Biden by the Republicans becomes moot... It means Biden can do whatever he wants, and the courts (and Republican hyenas) can't touch him.

Another case against TFG involves Colorado and the 2024 ballot. A case was made that because TFG staged an insurrection against the U.S. government, he cannot be president again because of the 14th amendment. The Colorado Supreme Court ruled against TFG:
A divided Colorado Supreme Court on Tuesday declared former President Donald Trump ineligible for the White House under the U.S. Constitution’s insurrection clause and removed him from the state’s presidential primary ballot, setting up a likely showdown in the nation’s highest court to decide whether the front-runner for the GOP nomination can remain in the race.

The decision from a court whose justices were all appointed by Democratic governors marks the first time in history that Section 3 of the 14th Amendment has been used to disqualify a presidential candidate.

“A majority of the court holds that Trump is disqualified from holding the office of president under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment,” the court wrote in its 4-3 decision.

The court also stayed it's decision until after Jan 4th, so TFG can appeal it to SCOTUS. The date is critical because it must be decided by Jan 5th, the deadline for making changes to the state's ballot. This is one TFG will likely win, but if he doesn't, watch other states rush to remove him from their ballots, based on the ruling.

All in all, it's been a bad week for TFG and his pals (see Ghouliani verdict), and the week is still young. Here's hoping for more fun news before Santa takes to the air.
