Good Morning.

Well, you know I'm already planning another trip to Florida, right?


It's true. I have already looked at the 2027 calendar, and figuring out if I want to head down next summer before or after NYLT. (July 4 week).

We were down this year during the All-Star Break, so there was no baseball of any kind at the time. I've been to Spring Training and Minor League games over the last few trips.

But of course - you know of our obsession with the Mouse. I can hear you grit your teeth and sigh from here. "Great, TriSec is a Disney Adult".

Well - my grandparents took me for the first time 50 years ago, when I was ten. It's been a part of our lives for a long time now, and of course you know Javier was a participant in the Disney International Culinary Program, and actually gave consideration to becoming a Cast Member.

We derive a great amount of enjoyment from being in the parks, wandering around Disney Springs, riding a few favourite rides, and seeing our old childhood favourites out and about. It's a certain bit of nostalgia and comfort.

Ah, but in some sectors of society - we're pariahs now. But we don't actually do any of that weird stuff. OK, I have a full Jedi outfit, including a lightsaber....but that stays in my closet at home, and I wear it only for Halloween. I've never attended a park in any kind of costume. We both like some clothing and merch....but I don't even think we spent that much on our last trip. I wanted a polo shirt, but instead found a reserved rugby shirt instead, actualy in Bentley school colors so I can wear it to work!

But yes - we did see some of that obsession. Large groups in matching outfits, a couple of tiaras, and the exception, a couple of mother-daughter pairs in matching Disney outfits. (Which should be acceptable.)

But - is this any different that the "Tarps off" movement in baseball right now? Or those college football types that live and die by the Crimson Tide, wear all the merch, and even have stickers and banners all over their car?

Oh, how about the MAGA crowd? I don't have to tell you how over the top and culty they are. What makes them different?

Oh, wait. those things are MANLY and show off how white your skin is and how big your genitals are when you flap that fanbase in everyone's face.

Yeah, sorry - I'll take these guys over that sort of thing.



Seriously? Chipmunks?

I'm not sure I ever told the blog the story. My late mother was a fan of the Mouse as well - and her favourite characters were always Chip and Dale. Since she passed in 2016....every time I have gone to the park, I have run across them within the first hour of passing the gate, whether merch, art, or in-person. We were at The World last week, and I noted elsewhere, we're at the Contemporary 12 minutes, and here they are.

I presume it's my mother's way of saying hello.

But indeed, at the end of the day, what does any of this hurt? We have our interests, and you have yours. But I suppose the internet ruined everything. Nobody can enjoy anything or be a part of something "different" without offending some obscure part of the world.

But why is that part of the world always the loudest, most intolerant, and vocal about why what I like sucks, and why I should be more like them?
